NextGen Climate Ohio Weatherization Report Currently: Roughly 400,000 Ohio households use PIPP Ohio s 2014 freeze on energy efficiency standards has reduced weatherization efforts by 26 percent If Ohio were to adopt a program to weatherize 30,000 homes of customers enrolled in a payment-assistance program each year for 13 years: Create nearly 2,400 jobs Produce $1.77 billion in energy savings for Ohio families Cut in half annual costs to customers enrolled in the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) Help electric utility companies meet their carbonreduction requirements for the federal clean air regulations. NEXTGENCLIMATE.ORG 15

NextGen Climate Ohio Polling NextGen Climate America poll by Anzalone Liszt Grove Research 83 percent of voters favor NextGen Climate s #50by30 goal, including 75 percent of Republicans 42 percent are more likely to vote for a presidential candidate who supports #50by30, while only 14 percent are less likely. NEXTGENCLIMATE.ORG 16

NextGen Climate Ohio Polling Voters overwhelmingly want clean energy, and they want Ohio to think big. NEXTGENCLIMATE.ORG 17

NextGen Climate Ohio Polling The most effective arguments to build support for a 50x30 plan: We have a moral obligation to our children and grandchildren to protect and care for our planet and leave things as good or better than we found it. Reducing our dependence on foreign oil will keep us safer because it keeps money out of the hands of radical terrorists and unstable regimes in the Middle East Solar power is 80% cheaper than in 2008, and wind and solar prices will keep falling. They save families money and protect families from fossil fuel price spikes that bust their budgets. Oil companies made more than $93 billion in projits in 2013 alone. They spend millions opposing clean energy because they want to protect their profits at the expense of our health. NEXTGENCLIMATE.ORG 18

NextGen Climate Ohio Polling Ohio voters are much more likely to vote for a presidential candidate who has endorsed #50by30, and say that a candidate s clean energy position will influence their choice on Election Day. NEXTGENCLIMATE.ORG 19

NextGen Ohio Climate Polling 78 percent of voters say that a candidate who supports #50by30 understands that it is time to stop talking and start doing something about transitioning to clean energy. 77 percent of voters believe that presidential candidates who support climate action are both leaving an important legacy for our children and grandchildren and ensuring that our air and water stays safe.
