The Lake Township s held a regular meeting Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Bowen called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M. The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited. Roll Call: Ronald D. Reports: Zoning: Roads: September 15th "Clean Your Streams" day. Cemetery: Volunteer offered to help at cemetery; follow up on using cemetery bequest funds for trimmers, s will research. Had contact from film producer to shoot a scene at the cemetery, Solicitor to research liability. Police: Fire & EMS: Parks: Future Meetings and Events: 2012 Spring Brush Pick-Up for the Unincorporated Areas of Lake Township: May 14 thru 18 areas East of 1-280 Brush for the unincorporated areas of Lake Township shall be in place by 7:30 a.m. the first day of the week of the areas scheduled for pick-up. Brush pick-up is for chippable brush only. Brush shall be stacked as neatly and untangled as possible. Brush shall be placed at the road edge with butt ends of all branches facing in the same direction towards the road. Garbage, yard waste and objects other than brush and limbs will not be picked up. Any brush piles that are deemed unchippable shall be documented by a picture by the Lake Township Road Department and a final determination shall be made within twenty-four (24) hours by a Lake Township on the disposal of the brush pile. Free Woodchips are available at the Road Department on Ayers Road call 419-836-1143 for pick-up times.
Friends of Lake Township Park's "Name our Newest Park" contest. Contest Ends July 1, 2012. Park is located in Moline at 5594 Moline Martin Road, Walbridge, Ohio 43465. Walbridge Fest Rally by the Rails will be held May 18 & 19 in Loop Park. Parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday May 19. Lake Township Farmer's Market will begin Wednesday, June 13th. Welling moved to adopt Resolution #45-12 Whereas: the Lake Township s wish to enter into a labor warranty contract with CDS Telco for the phone system used in the Township Multi-use Administration building, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township s enter into a labor warranty contract with CDS Telco for a "Total Care Plan" at the annual sum of $1,309.00. Seconded by Mr. Sims Fire Department Issues: Sims moved to adopt Resolution #46-12 Whereas: the Lake Township s approved Resolution #09-12 on January 3, 2012 authorizing the hiring of Federal Field Services, LLC to provide maintenance and narrow banding as per the specifications submitted to upgrade four (4) sirens to narrow band, and Whereas: additional costs were incurred during the upgrading process, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township s approve the additional sum of $1000.00 be paid to Federal Field Services, LLC for the additional cost incurred during the narrow band siren upgrade process. Bowen moved to adopt Resolution #47-12 Whereas: the Lake Township s approved the hiring of Fire Safety Services, Inc. to perform mandated NFPA testing of the Lake Township Fire Department SCBA's (self-contained breathing apparatus) and peripherals (face pieces) on April 17, 2012 by Resolution #42-12, and Whereas: additional costs were incurred during the testing and repair process, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township s authorize the additional sum of $1,273.42 to cover the cost of repairs made to the SCBA's and peripherals.
Welling moved to adopt Resolution #48-12 Whereas: Lake Township Fire Chief Todd Walters recommends the purchase of Fifty- Five (55) gallons of "Class A" foam which is used in Lake Township Fire Departments Units 721, 726, 841, and 842. The current supply of "Class A" foam is rapidly being depleted, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township s authorize the purchase of fifty-five (55) gallons of "Class A" foam from Finley fire Equipment at a cost not to exceed $1,100.00 including shipping and handling. Seconded By Mr. Sims Discussion Only: MCO Open Enrollment - Bowen provided information on selecting a "Managed Care Organization" for Worker's Compensation claims. The township has Corvel as their representative and has been pleased with their service. A selection is due by May 25, 2012. Tornado Zoning Fee waiver - Welling said a zoning permit for a Martin-Moline Rd. home destroyed by the June 5, 2010 tornado was received by Zoning Commissioner Dave Meismer. Permit fees were waived after the tornado. s agreed to continue to waive the fee. HB529 & SB339 - Fiscal Officer Vicki Schwamberger provided information on pending legislation called the "Fiscal Officer Accountability Act." This will require educational training for all fiscal officers. She will continue to update the board as it moves through the legislative process. Heard the cost to repair the Administration's copier, which was damaged due to lightning striking the building: New controller Board: $200,001 or used: $1014.00. Bowen motioned to keep Corvel as the MCO for Workers' Comp claims of the Township.
Sims motioned to purchase a new Controller Board for the Administration copy machine at a cost of $2,001.00 which will be covered under our insurance claim. Welling offered congratulations to Deb Rodgers/Sentinel Tribune reporter for receiving a First Place A/P award on the coverage of the Lake Township Tornado "Tragedy to Triumph" coverage. Resident Marge Willman asked if a former candidate for has offered to help with the upkeep in the cemetery. She suggested that the Lake Township s call him. Welling moved to go into Executive Session as allowed under O.R.C. 121.22 (G) (1) to discuss personnel issues as related to employment as requested by Fire Chief Walters at 6:15 p.m. Welling moved to come out of Executive Session at 6:52 p.m. and noting no decisions were made.
