3 4 Major activities of NSD Korea National Assembly SDGs Forum NSD Korea National Assembly SDGs Forum UN SDGs (Sustainable development goals) were introduced to the U.N. General Assembly as agenda to sustain human life and planet s environment in 2014.President, Park Geun-Hye and UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Korea and UN, especially addressing SDGs. Hereby, National Assembly and ASD jointly established NSD Korea National Assembly SDGs Forum to enhance national image and participate fully in international community. As National assembly take the initiative in Participating in global issue in company with National Assembly-Government-private organization, NSD Korea National Assembly SDGs Forum will demonstrate leadership that transcend the dimension of nation states and set a stage for global contribution of Korea Two-month period Regular seminar Developing country visit for support and cooperation with UN Holding lectures for university students, global leader lectures and conference Policy forum about government, UN, SDGs and sustainable development Setting a development role-model for Asia, Latin America, China and Africa Global contribution network with leaders worldwide After NSD was established in February, 2014, Kwon Sung-dong (Member of the National Assembly) occupies representative, Lee Hee- Sung (CEO of Intel Korea) holds non-govemrnental 50 members of the National Assembly take charge in founding member sympathizing with purpose. 5 6 3 Major activities of ASD ASD has been doing 4 major activities. 1 ASD Korean Association for Supporting SDGs Established as an NGO for informing UN MDGs, ASD is currently spreading UN s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and supporting UN in developing capability. Received UN Secretariat s(ola) official approval in using the slogan, United Nations, We Believe and as an UN MDGs(SDGs) Supporting Organization in November, 2011. Also, we received UNOSD s consultancy of the establishment of Korean Association for Supporting UN SDGs as a nongovernmental UN supporting association in June, 2013. We are an NGO under the jurisdiction of the Korean Ministry of Foreign, the organization officially recognized as raising contributions of the Seoul metropolitan government, and the organization registered as designated contribution of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. 2 ASD s Mission and Significance ASD is promoting Sustainable Developmnet Goals - UN s next-generation global project for humanitarian development - developing capability, and fostering this issue in cooperation with enterprises, government, main social leaders, and congressmen. We have promoted UN MDGs(SDGs) since the establishment in June, 2011 until 2012. 2013, our establishment of Korean Association for Supporting SDGs was consulted by UNOSD and we have been informing sustainable development - UN s core goals - to internal and external main leaders for their participation. 1. Global contribution conference for spreading SDGs 3. Future Generation (university students) Campaign via Online and SNS 4. Certification for participating SDGs and consulting National Assembly (Congress) Forum on UN s Educational Contribution July 6th, 2012 The Forum was Jointly hosted by Multinational Company Intel, KT, Ildong Pharmaceutical CO., ltd, and 11 high-ranking political figures participated the Forum, including the Speaker of the 19th National Assembly Kang Chang-Hee, and the Representative of the UN MDGs(SDGs) National Assembly Forum and member of the National Assembly Lee Ju-Young. Especially, ASD had enriched the quality of the forum by inviting prominent global leaders as key speakers to discuss methods to cultivate talented human resources that could contribute to the global society: former Special Advisor to UN Secretary General and Vice President of Korea University Lee Sin-Hwa, Globally Renowned Ballerina Kim Joo-won, Spokesperson for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics Bid Committee Na Seung-yeon, and other influential leaders. ASD plans to continue to host these forums with the National Assembly regularly under the other main themes. In view of above, we are pleased to support your efforts for launching a campaign for advancing the implementation of UN SDGs. ROK has demonstrated a unique precedent of transition from recipient to a donor. The know-how obtained from this dramatic transformation has allowed ROK to be a significant role model for current developing nations in Africa and Asia. ASD has been exerting its efforts on spreading this distinctive model of international development and poverty eradication by raising awareness and creating a public opinion in Korea inducing more leaders to join in spreading this mission. Especially ASD is making its effort in developing the capability of water, energy, environment, green economy, women, education, IT(Information Technology), production and consumption, sustainable economy, sustainable urbanization and climate change in order to promote UN SDGs.

7 8 1 UN SDGs Leaders Campaign by ASD This campaign has been carried out to promote UN MDGs(SDGs) especially to government organizations, companies, and members of the national assembly so they can develop policies that support the UN MDGs(SDGs). ASD has been bringing in influential leaders in ROK to join the campaign through various programs such as the [National Assembly Fashion Show Fund Raiser hosted by UNICEF-ASD], [UN MDGs(SDGs) Leaders in Korea], [UN Social Contribution Korea Campaign], and the [National Assembly Forum Series on UN s Contribution] 3 National Assembly Fashion Show Fund Raiser hosted by UNICEF-ASD July 5th, 2011 ASD held a first ever fashion show at the National Assembly of ROK with one of Korea s most prestigious fashion designer Jang Gwang-hyo. The Speaker of the National Assembly of ROK, Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly, 24 members of the National Assembly - from both ruling and opposition party - participated in the event. Popular celebrities and 700 audiences attended, resulting with $10,000 (U.S.) raised for UNICEF s project for African children in poverty. 1 UN SDGs Leaders in Korea by ASD Since September 2011, ASD began this campaign of receiving signatures from leaders with great impact from three sectors, the government, the national assembly, and the media to have them join the cause for UN MDGs(SDGs). Including the Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 10 Ministers of the central government, 49 members of the National Assembly both from the ruling and opposition party, Chosun Media and Maeil Kyungjae Media Group have participated. 4 Domestic and foreign Associations, Enterprises, Main leaders Network 2 Korea s Campaign on UN s Social Contribution by ASD Since March 2012 With various campaigns, we build global network among UN and International Organizations, associations, companies and main leaders. With ASD, We can make any social contribution which leaders take part in. Since March 2012, ASD has distributed Hope Badges to eradicate poverty in the international society to major figures in ROK, to spread the messageand increase the level of donation for the cause. So far, 500 leaders including President Park Geun-Hye, Special Secretary Go Heung-Gil, CEO of Ildong Pharmaceutical Company Lee Jung-chi, Korean Pop Star Kim Hyun-joong has joined this nationwide PR Campaign.

9 2 UN MDGs(SDGs)-International Development Cooperation Media Campaign by ASD ASD continues to carry out media campaigns with powerful global media channels with a strong base in Korea. The [UN s Social & Educational Contribution Special] was recently published on the front page of Chosun News, creating a sensation among its 45million readers. 4 UN MDGs(SDGs) Forum for University and Graduate Students (Nationwide and Abroad) UN MDGs(SDGs) Forum for University and Graduate Students (Nationwide and Abroad) ASD hosts lectures and forums for university and graduate students especially majoring in international studies or development. ASD has visited 22 universities, totalling about 8,000 students in attendance. [Beijing University (China)], [Ritsumeikan University (Japan)], [Seoul National University],[Yonsei University], [Korea University], [Seoul Women s University], [Ewha Woman s University],[Kyunghee University], [Sukmyung Women s University], [Dongduk Women s University],[Pusan University], [Incheon University], [Kyemyeong University], [Chungbuk National University],[Gwangwoon University], [Dongguk University], [Jeonbuk University, Hongik University],[Hanshin University], [Ajou University] 3 UN SDGs Company Leaders by ASD ASD has been carrying out various campaigns with global companies to promote MDGs(SDGs) and cooperation for international development. By pursuing the [ASD-KT MDGs(SDGs) Campaign] with the global communications company KT, which has over 30 thousand employees, ASD has attracted the interest and participation of approximately 100 thousand ordinary citizens. Also, by hosting the UN National Assembly Forum with the global company Intel, ASD contributed to bringing more attention on education, environment, poverty-eradication and other MDGs(SDGs)-related issues to the Legislative body. To spread awareness and bring attention to the MDGs(SDGs), ASD has close partnerships with global companies as the following: [Intel], [KT],[CJ] [SK Telecommunications], [Korean Air], [Ildong Pharmaceutical CO.,LTD],[Uniquest] [Woori Financial Group], [GS Caltex],[Korea Airports Corporation], [Bolsas], [UCC(Union Corporate SDGs Supporters ASD has launched UN SDGs Supporters composed of core team of university students since December 2013. This supporters group is promoting UN SDGs via on-line and various university campaign to global world.

As a Public Relations Officer or PR Director, he worked at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Interim Committee for the President-elect, and KOICA (organization under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), respectively. Later, he served as the Planning Director of Seoul s G20 International Development Forum which drove the discussion at the Seoul G20 Summit Meeting, and worked as the Planning Director at the PR Organization for the Government s ODA. He has also been selected as Person of The Year (2009) by the global fashion magazine Cosmopolitan. Recently he was appointed as a global advisor of the Union Corporate Committee of KT, KOTRA, LH Corporation, SNUBH, at, KEAD, GICO, and also as an advisor of National Unification Advisory Council. Recently, he was selected as project model by luxury global brand TOD S 1 Board There are 6 Board Members including the Chairman and the Special Representative; the other 4 consists of professionals each in the media, international conferences, companies, and public organizations. 2 Advisory, Consulting and Steering Committee ASD s Chairman is the CEO of Intel Korea, Lee Hee-Sung. Since his appointment to person in charge of telecommu-nication marketing in the Asia Pacific, he has been leading the company for 8 years, while contributing to the society by investing in the education field. He is also actively participating in social contribution activities of AMCHAM. Especially, he has been spreading the Korean MDGs(SDGs) Campaign to other global companies around the world leading the forum TFT s global company network[ceo Association of Multinational Companies] which consists of 140 prestigious world class global companies in Korea. As the 2nd, 3rd Chairman of ASD, he is spreading Korean SDGs Campaign to global enterprises. ASD consists of specialists from various relevant sectors serving as part of the Advisory Committee, Consulting Committee, and the Steering committee.
