04.04 - Meeting COM with Japanese authorities MAFF in Tokyo: The urged Japan to recognise the zoning measures put in place and thus to lift the country-wide ban imposed on Poland. Detailed information on the measures was discussed, especially concerning the legislative measures in place, surveillance and scientific opinions covering wild boar movements and various other issues. Japan signalled that it would consider regionalisation for Poland but would need to evaluate all the information. MAFF stated that a face-to-face expert meeting will be scheduled with Polish experts in Tokyo then MAFF will dispatch a study team to Poland. The EU asked Japan to 10 P a g e

inform, if any additional data would be needed in order to avoid any undue delays in the process and highlighted the possibility of information exchange between experts, e.g. through a videoconference. Information received from Japan on 7 May 2014: Meeting with the Polish experts took place 30 April and as a conclusion the Japanese government is prepared to apply zoning. In order for them to do so, Poland received on 19 May a questionnaire concerning zoning to be filled in and sent back to JP in June. Once Poland has replied and Japan assessed, on-site inspection by Japanese experts in Poland will follow. The fact that no further cases have been detected is deemed the most important element in Japan's 11 P a g e

The EU conveyed the message that Poland is currently working to answer all the questions and highlighted that Korea needs to keep both the and Poland informed of the process and any information requests to avoid any delays in the process. RUS audit has been carried out in Poland between 23 and 27 June 2014 30 June 2014: EU launch of WTO Panel on ASF against RUS. At the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) meeting on 10 July, the European Union requested the establishment of a panel on what it said were by the Russian Federation on imports of live s, pork and other from the EU.
