A BAITIANGONG s Whole Man outlook of the 14th Malaysian General Election... Xian Sheng started preaching BAITIANGONG from his home at Kepong, a suburbia of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He taught us how to be a BAITIANGONG person. A BAITIANGONG person is a person that prays to the CREATOR with mind, body and soul; fear nothing except the CREATOR; think good, see good, hear good, speak good and do good; and a Whole Man. A Whole Man is a political man, an economic man, a social man, a cultural man and a spiritual man. Politics is a wide term that refers to human behaviour with regards to increasing influence and power within an organisation. In BAITIANGONG we must differentiate between political party politics and office politics or organisational politics. In terms of a political man in BAITIANGONG, Xian Sheng advocates that each of BAITIANGONG followers must 97

take an interest and engaged in their own nation s affair by joining a political party of his or her choice and not adopt an apathy attitude. They can contribute to the positive spiritual development of their nation by applying their BAITIANGONG teachings. However, the most basic political duties we can perform is our duty as a citizen to vote for a good, clean, transparent, fair, caring and corrupt free government in the General Elections. Furthermore, we should cognizant of whom our Prime Minister is, and that he should be of impeccable character. Xian Sheng reminded us many times that we should identify ourselves by our nationality as Malaysian, and not by our ethnic identity as Malaysian Chinese. We should also love our country and treat Malaysia as our beloved country. Xian Sheng s teachings and sermons include contemporary political issues with the previous government like in matters concerning corruption, inequality in the treatment of other ethnic groups, the fairness of the judiciary etc. The Registrar of Society (ROS) has repeatedly denied us the opportunity to register our association. Xian Sheng had to seek an audience with the then Prime Minister, Dr Mahathir for his assistance, but it was not fruitful as Dr Mahathir replied that there was resistance from some con- 98 A BAITIANGONG s Whole Man outlook of the 14th Malaysian General Election

cerned party. Xian Sheng mentioned that the brothers and sisters in Singapore are more fortunate to have the late Mr Lee Kwan Yew as the then Prime Minister. The registration of BAITIANGONG Universal Spiritual Movement in Singapore did not meet up any political resistance as it did in Malaysia. Xian Sheng constantly reminds us to pray to the CREATOR for the country to have good leadership. Xian Sheng also related an incident where he had a chance to meet and discuss with Dr Mahathir in a conference organised by the People Progress Party. Dr Mahathir told him that it was impossible for the opposition parties to be united for General Elections if each party has their personal agendas such as taking turns to be Prime Minister. Xian Sheng responded by stating that each opposition party should unite on the grounds of good governance and not to fight for power. If such were the case, they should easily achieve the numbers in membership and even financial support. On 9 May 2018, 18 years after Xian Sheng Return to the Plane of Nothing, Malaysians eventually woke up to the dawn of a new era where the coalition of Pakatan Harapan defeated the 99

incumbent 61 years-old Barisan Nasional in a what was thought to be an impossible victory given the allegations that the government machinery was fully exploited, the Election Commission s gerrymandering and billions of ringgits was channelled to ensure Barisan Nasional s victory. Tun Mahathir once again took on the mantle of the Prime Minister to lead the new alliance Pakatan Harapan-led government consisting of coalition of four opposition party. He seemed to have changed during the many years since he left office and have regained new found respect both locally from the rakyat (people) and internationally alike. His changed self is reflected in what he said in the months leading up to 9 May 2018 and his actions subsequently. Tun Mahathir has promised that he will lead the Pakatan Harapan-led government in Malaysia without going against the teachings of Islam (refer to online news Malaysia Today on Jun 4 2018 Pakatan Will Govern Based on Tenets of Islam), some of which are comparable with Xian Sheng s teachings. Interestingly, some of the current events are aligned or comparable to Xian Sheng s teachings and the Spiritual Guidelines. 100 A BAITIANGONG s Whole Man outlook of the 14th Malaysian General Election

1. Tun Mahathir: A GOD-fearing person. Spiritual Guidelines No. 2: Fear Nothing except the CREATOR. 2. Tun Mahathir: 1MDB is the world s biggest financial scandal. Tun Mahathir quoted that Najib said, Cash is King and that he is using BR1M to buy people s vote. https://dinmerican.wordpress.com/2018/04/27/ge-14-dr-mahathirs-finalbattle/ https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2018/05/16/mahathir- 1mdb-problem-worse-than-we-thought/ https://youtu.be/2homlgmjch8 https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/367699 Xian Sheng s teaching: Any BAITIANGONG followers that vote for politicians that support corruption are useless and better off dead. Besides, Xian Sheng hates liars and cheaters. (Xian Sheng s video dated 21/5/1998) Spiritual Guidelines No. 3: Think Good, See Good, Hear Good, Speak Good and Do Good 101

3. Tun Mahathir: He also expressed his concern on the loyalty of the civil servants in this country who had failed to execute their duties according to the rules and the law, which the prime minister had described as a form of betrayal and had committed a crime. Spiritual Guidelines No 4: To understand and practise: Sacrifice, Honour, Respect, Patience, Perseverance and Trust 4. Tun Mahathir: The word Iqra (read) was the first revelation given to Nabi Muhammad. If we read, we will acquire knowledge. https://youtu.be/ysmyggbyvb8 He advises youths to seek knowledge by reading more books. https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2018/06/376658/ph-led-govt-upholds-islam-says-dr-m https://www.thestar.com.my/news/education/2012/05/20/dr-mahathirnamed-nations-reading-icon/ https://thecoverage.my/news/jack-ma-talking-tun-mahathir-read-bookstun-m-extremely-knowledgable/ Spiritual Guidelines No 5: To acquire Knowledge and Understanding. 102 A BAITIANGONG s Whole Man outlook of the 14th Malaysian General Election

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir said in 1995 that he would organise Bangsa Malaysia. (S56/1995B-24/9/1995-13.30min) 6.
