Project Achievements and Results

Another Perspective on Migration. Concept Note

Transcription:

About the project For thousands of years the people were forced to leave their homeland for famine, war, exile and economical reasons. While the majority of immigrants migrate for economic reasons permanently, a quarter of them have to get out of their own country for political reasons or by force. As poverty and hunger grow in the world, migration will continue to be hope for the people. Unbearable life conditions, unemployment and poverty force millions of people to leave their homeland. Moving to advanced country is important to rescue lives. Many intellectuals characterize immigrants as the nerve cells of the global culture. They bring together the cultures and introduce them to each other. Their contribution to the new world is not only economical but also cultural. So that, over the time even the host society internalize the immigrants own culture. The project will be co-created by Partners by orchestrating different national traditions within a shared theoretical framework. In this sense, the project will represent something which crosses the cultural borders and attempts to realize something transferable into different European contexts. The project is based on the idea of fostering collaboration between Partners through education, in order to promote the respect of human rights regardless of race, gender, culture or religion, as the UN Charter recognizes. Focusing on the need of immigrant children, the project intends to achieve its goal by reaffirming the value of philosophy, that is to say the establishment of dialogue, and the spreading of an international philosophical culture, in accordance with UNESCO recommendations. The aim of this project is to break the barriers between nations that limit the interaction between different cultures caused by variables such as religion, linguistic, racial and cultural differences. The aim is to build a cultural support for students, teachers and local community to help them in crossing the barriers which are forced upon them by concepts such as different race, language, and cultural values. The main concepts of the project are the sensitization to the idea of other people and reflection on one's own intercultural identity. By studying closely the movement of people within Europe and by coming into direct contact with the immigrants, who have spent prolonged period of time away from their homeland we aim to develop an understanding of the intercultural dimension in European societies help pupils better understand the reality and decide whether we are moving towards greater integration.

We will focus on arising awareness for preventing the biggest obstacles faced in "living together" - the racism and xenophobia. This project's second aim to advance understanding of the factors that shape the individual life course of migrants, its consequences for family relations in migrant families and its link with demographic change in the country of settlement and origin. Migration is one of the major factors in population change in Europe today. Nevertheless a more comprehensive understanding of the life course and population dynamics in migrant families is still lacking.
