C h i c a g o N o m a d s S k i C l u b N e w s l e t t e r April 1, 2019 Volume 57 Issue 2 the Prez Sez...Bob - Grouch - Klawitter Well the ski season is over. I hope you all got a chance to ski with us. Now don t stop being a Nomad, join us for bike rides, happy hours, and picnics. We are a four season club willing to try new things, suggest something and we ll try to arrange a date. This month is election time. Several of the board members will be stepping down, having served for 4 years. The club needs young, fresh people to step up and run it. Don t be afraid of various jobs because of lack of experience, there are always others to help and guide you. There are perks for being a board member discounts on ski trips, dues paid while in office, and for an equal amount per time served, The club gives you a lot now is the time to give something back. This year the positions of president, secretary, social director and Midwest trip director are open. The President shall be responsible for the enforcement of the charter and by-laws, appointment of committees, signing of all written contracts subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, presiding over all meetings of the Board of Directors and/or members, and selecting the meeting places and dates, with the approval of the Board of Directors. The President shall have the power of an extra vote to decide any issue that has become deadlocked in the Board of Directors meetings and may appoint the club parliamentarian. The Secretary shall be responsible for all club correspondence, the taking and keeping of minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and the General Meetings, and shall be the custodian of the charter, bylaws and amendments of the club for any inspection of duly authorized persons. Additional responsibilities will also include assigned duties by the President. The Social Chairperson shall be responsible for all social gatherings; for the organization of Ski-A-Rama, for participation at the CMSC Ski Show; for the arrangement of dance parties including, but not limited to, Halloween, Christmas, New Year's, Membership, and the Awards Banquet. The Midwest Trip Chairperson shall be responsible for all weekend and one-day ski trips. Nominations are open now and the election is at the April general meeting. Show up and vote for your friends. As it is written, So shall it be. - Grouch

Vice President - Brad Briar Spring has just started but I'm already thinking about next ski season. We had a few really great trips this year and I'm hoping to add more next year. We had a few injuries and some little hiccups to get past but overall the season was successful. Thank you to everyone who has responded to the survey, if you haven't yet it's not too late. I've got a few trips in the beginning stages of planning, Big Sky the 1st week of February and I'm getting quotes on a few destinations for a March trip (Squaw Valley, Alta and Jackson Hole). Planning has started for the family trip and Midwest trips we will start getting information in the next few months, so keep your eyes out for that. There is also the CMSC Chicago Week trip to Whitefish at the end of February. I'm planning on buying the Ikon Base Pass for next season and based on initial prices that I've been quoted it will pay for itself in 7 days. I've heard a lot of interest from people, so I'm going to be setting up a group option through our website in the next few days. If you want to purchase either the Ikon Base pass or the full pass please do it through the Nomads as we'll get some promotional deals if we sell enough. If you have any questions please email me or you can catch me at several Nomads events. I've recently gotten in touch with a couple rafting companies for a West Virginia rafting trip in September and details will be coming out soon for that. Costa Rica planning is underway as well. Heather is working with a tour company and putting together a spectacular trip for next spring. There's lots of great trips coming up and I hope to see many of you on them. Brad Briar BBriar2@gmail.com Midwest Trip Director Mike Radice By the time you read this, most or all, Midwest ski resorts will be closed for the season. 1 out of 5 trips planned went out this year, to Ski Brule. The snow conditions and weather were awesome and the Nomads that made the trip had a blast. Let s hope we have a better season next year. We are going to try something different, with smaller shuttle vans, with a storage compartments, that can transport 10-12 ppl. Nomads, if anyone would like to get a small group together for a Midwest trip let me know, I can start planning it!!! I would like offer 5 different resorts to chose from by the end of May, So please help me out and get your trip out! Thanks for the Great season, let s get ready for even a greater season 2019-2020! MWTD MIKE
