Receive presentation from the Probation Department relating to a Youth Advisory Council. (ID# 83855) The Collaborative received a presentation by Kathy Martinez, Deputy Chief Probation Officer, and Jasmine Davis, Deputy Probation Officer, Probation Department,relating to the purpose and methodology of the Youth Advisory Council, describing challenges faced by youth regarding service needs in navigating the probation system. The presenters also described the goals and accomplishments of the Council. 8 RESULT: RECEIVED 9. Receive verbal report from the Probation Department relating to the Young Adult Deferred Entry of Judgment Pilot Program (SB 1004). (Laura Garnette, Chief Probation Officer) (ID# 84002) The Collaborative received a report by Laura Garnette, Chief Probation Officer, Probation Department, relating to planning for Senate Bill 1004 regarding planning for implementation of a deferred entry of judgment pilot program in Santa Clara County. 9 RESULT: RECEIVED 10. Receive report from Direct File/Fitness Subcommittee relating to the Fitness Process Protocol. (ID# 83995) The Collaborative received a report Christopher Arriola, Attorney, Office of the District Attorney, relating to the activities of the Direct File/Fitness Subcommittee and protocols of the fitness hearing process for Juvenile Court. The report focused on the roles and responsibilities of the agencies involved in the fitness process protocol. The report also included information relating to the Risk Assessment Instrument, 95122 subcommittee, and the Community Engagement ad hoc committee concerning best practices to be implemented by the Juvenile Justice Systems Collaborative subcommittees. 10 RESULT: RECEIVED 11. Receive report from the Case Systems and Processes Workgroup related to new target areas and subcommittees for 2017. (ID# 83998) Page 3 of 5

The Collaborative received a report from Alternate Commissioner Johnson and Mariel Caballero, Program Manager, Probation Department, relating to the results of a target popultion brainstorming session and areas for emphasis in 2017. 11 RESULT: RECEIVED 12. Receive report from the Prevention and Programs Workgroup relating to a quarterly update to the Juvenile Justice System Collaborative. (ID# 84007) Taken out of order after Item No. 13. The Collaborative received a report from Arcel V. Blume, Chairperson, Prevention and Programs Workgroup, relating to school discipline practices and focus group discussions regarding discipline policy and practices and how to allow students to remain in the classroom. 12 RESULT: RECEIVED 13. Consider recommendations relating to Juvenile Justice Systems Collaborative (JJSC), Case Systems and Processes Workgroup (CSP), and Prevention and Programs Workgroup (PPW) Calendar Year 2017 meeting schedules and PPW meeting location. (ID# 83979) Possible action: a. Approve JJSC, CSP, and PPW Calendar Year 2017 meeting schedules. b. Forward a favorable recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to approve meeting location change of PPW to Family Resource Center, 591 N. King Roads, Suite 3, Room 19, San Jose. Commissioner Bunnett announced an upcoming Children's Summit scheduled for February 24, 2017 and commented on issues relating to children who have parents who are incarcerated. Alternate Commissioner Coelho requested that the subject be included on the next Collaborative agenda. Adjourn 15.
