OFFICERS REPORTS: All Officers in attendance reported, with the majority of comments reflecting their pleasure in being in the Oasis of Almas Shrine for this meeting. They also thanked Marc Suit for the Hospitality and congratulated him on the success so far on this, his first hosted meeting. Several officers also commented once again on the appreciated and needed repairs made to the Motor Corp trailer prior to MASA. Dale Zimmerman reported that there are still a few minor repairs needed on the trailer and that upkeep was very important from time to time.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: Convention Committee: Paul Baker reported that the MASA convention was a success with only minor problems that were hopefully all taken care of in a timely manner. The problem with the scoring was corrected as soon as it was brought to our attention. ALL MEMBERS must remember that mistakes do happen and if they take the time to let us know immediately we can and will correct them as soon as possible. We must all try to keep our cool and do the right thing calmly and expediently. We were reminded that although the ladies help at competition and the awards party is VERY necessary but we must remember that it is strictly voluntary!! Paul also passed out a flyer on the upcoming Spring Convention to be held at the Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel adjacent to the Almas Shrine Center in Washington DC. The dates are May 6 th 8 th and the info is also printed in the back of the Scrambler. We hope to see many familiar faces and also some new ones in attendance. Competition Committee: Ralph Holt reported on the MASA Competition and thanked all who competed and especially those who helped with set-up and removal of the equipment. Dale Zimmerman reported that the needed dash plates and trophy plates were ordered and will be sent to the deserving parties. Dick Javins of the Kena 500 & Kena Car Club congratulated all the officers on a very efficiently run competition. Uniforms: Ralph Holt All uniform orders have been filled. If anyone wants additional items, please contact Ralph Holt. OLD BUSINESS: A motion was made, seconded and approved to change the requirements for shoes worn for competition. Page 12 under 1. Inspection, will now read; A Personal Grooming, 3. Shoes (matching closed toe shoes). Several changes and suggestions were made to clarify the rules and also to include in the judges guidelines. An informal meeting was held after lunch which also included the ladies in attendance for this purpose and these changes will be printed on the page following these minutes. NEW BUSINESS: The following suggestions were made to help with the competition in the future: 1) Schedule the competition times more carefully as to space out the drilling and non-drilling units more effectively. 2) Changes to the requirements for non-drilling units were made (see last page) 3) Possibly add a judge in the RV to tally scores prior to ladies entering into computer. (Discuss at Spring Meeting with ladies for their opinion) 4) Take more care in double checking scores or times on sheets and that they are recorded properly on computer. 5) Ladies will be invited to attend the General meeting in spring as to get their ideas on changes needed at competition. 6) If a unit is approached at competition to keep things moving along, we must be careful not to rush them. All teams are to be given the same benefits and time regardless of what time they compete. By the same token teams are not to sit by the way-side once they are inspected or have reported to a competition area.

7) It was suggested to allow the units an opportunity to ride the obstacle courses Thursday after meeting while supervised by the Officers. This was DENIED. 8) A committee was formed to consider the feasibility of incorporating the obstacle course results into the high point trophies instead of just using the drill scores. Committee Salty, Dave Karl, Cal Johnson 9) Use dry erase boards on the obstacle courses to communicate between the officers or past presidents working. 10) Line-up units at obstacle courses and slow race as they report to keep units moving effectively. 11) The FLAG OF YOUR COUNTRY will now be required on every competing member s uniform. 12) Non-drilling units will now be penalized 1 second for each guideline infraction. These guidelines are found in the rules and regulations in the Scrambler. 13) If a non-drilling unit does not have the MAASMC patch on their uniform, they will NOT be allowed to participate. Auditing Committee Mel Harrison to be completed at Spring Convention Nominating Committee Jesse Stoltz, Gib Rice, and Eddie Dixon GOOD OF THE ORDER: General membership meeting at MASA Convention will now be held at 11:00 a.m. instead of after lunch.
