Whether it was as a physician at the prestigious Johns opkins ospital, as a medical officer in the Naval Reserve, as a hard-working state senator, or now as congressman, arris has made a life by serving others. e is dedicated to making sure every constituent in the 1st Congressional District receives the highest-quality assistance and is well-represented in the halls of Congress. arris began serving as the Congressman from the beautiful 1st Congressional District of Maryland in 2011. e serves on the Committee on Appropriations and on the following subcommittees: Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies; Labor, ealth and uman Services, Education, and Related Agencies; and omeland Security. In his free time, he enjoys spending time on the Chesapeake Bay with his family, and repairing old cars with his sons. SARA UBBART, Director of Michael Torrey Associates. As Director, Sarah leads the firm s communications programs, implements government affairs, issues management, and coalition building projects, and assists with client development efforts. A California native, Sarah ubbart joined Michael Torrey Associates in 2012. She has extensive issues management and media relations experience, honed in positions at the Animal Agriculture Alliance and the National Association of Conservation Districts and as a journalist. ubbart has a master s degree in media and public affairs from George Washington University and a bachelor s degree in agricultural communications and political science from California State University, Chico. She was named a Bryce arlow Foundation Fellow for advocacy with integrity and is active in several professional agricultural communications organizations, including the National Association of Farm Broadcasters and Agriculture Relations Council.
