LUNCH AND ALL ACTIVITIES WILL BE HELD IN THE LARGE ACTIVITY ROOM (BINGO ROOM). FYI. We would like everyone to know that the actual cost of our meals from Metz is $3.98. We ask for a suggested donation of $1.25. A FEW THINGS Please leave a message!!. Our telephone system allows you to leave messages when all the lines are busy. Please leave a message instead of continuing to call back. This is very helpful in the morning as the phones are very busy with incoming calls for the bus. Also for safety reason our bus drivers are not allowed to help you get on and off the bus. This is for your safety and the safety of our drivers. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Once again, it is necessary to reiterate: Groups often have to share room for their activity with another group. Please be courteous. Space is limited and we are continually adding new activities to meet the needs of our members. Verona s Farmer Market Verona s Farmers Market is every Thursday from 2:00 PM 6:00 PM You can use your vouchers and the RCAC bus is available at 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and a return trip at 3:00 pm. The last market of the season is Thursday, October 9 New Hours for our Food Pantry Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM-3:00 PM Please call one day in advance if you are in need of food. Food Bank Items Needed: With the holidays approaching, please consider donating to the RCAC Food Bank, which serves the residents of Oakmont and Verona. We are in need of holiday food items such as canned yams, instant potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce and monetary donations for turkeys. Please call Elaine at RCAC for more information. Volunteers Needed. We are in need of volunteers to help deliver meals and/or work in the dining room. If you are interested, please call Elaine at the Center. Have a group? Need a place to meet? Digital Photography w/ Mel Monday, October 6 at 1:00 PM and the last class is Monday, November 10. Bring your camera and instructions to class. CENTER NEWS Restoration and Relaxation Class Classes will be on Monday, November 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM There is a minimum of 7 people for CCAC Classes. **Since space is limited, some groups may have to share rooms. Please be considerate. Remember Staff Bingo Wednesday, October 29 1. If you bring a new friend to Bingo, each of you will receive a $1.00 off. 2. If you bring a new unopened snack to Staff Bingo, you will get an extra surprise. Ceramic Pumpkin Class Tuesday, October 7 at 10:00 AM Ceramic teacher, Sara Hauck will provide the 6-7 inch ceramic pumpkins, paint and all materials needed to complete the project. The cost is dependent on the number of people in the class; we need a minimum of 10. (If there are 10 in the class, the cost will be $15/person; if there are 15 in the class, the cost will be $10/ person.) Elaine s Homemade Soup Soup will return on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Bring your own projects to work on or help us make lap quilts for the local nursing homes. Sewing machines are available for use any day except Wednesdays. Zumba Mondays at 6:30 pm Zumba returns to RCAC on Monday, October 6 at 6:30 pm. Contact Celeste 412-638-4360 for more information. Pinochle Tuesdays at 12:30 pm Players are needed. Riverview Community Action Corp. Page 7 October 2014 UPCOMING OPT TRIPS OPT Trips Make sure you have set up your e-purse account. Please plan to arrive 20 minutes before scheduled departure time. If you are unable to go on the trip, please call and let us know so we can notify the carrier. If it is the weekend, please call the transit company. They need to know to adjust their routes. Please be considerate Deadline to sign up for trips is 2 days before. No one can be added on the day of the trip Times of trips are subject to change; call the Center to confirm. If you sign up, please make a note of it; we have had a problem recently of people signing up for trips and then not showing up. When there is a large group, OPT may have to use several vans; there is a possibility that you may be seated on a different vehicle from your friend. This is beyond our control and the driver s control; please just board the van. You will all reach the same destination. Seniors 65+ who live outside Allegheny County may go on group trips from RCAC provided they are registered with ACCESS 65+ and have set up an e-purse account. A minimum of 4 people are needed for any OPT Trip.
