Great Britain, The European Union And Brexit. Leoni Hodgson December 08 Several people in the esoteric community support the view that Great Britain should stay in the European Union. But there is an argument to be made for its leaving and this is given here. A. What did Great Britain gain by joining the EU? Great Britain joined the EU in 97. Its reason for doing so was purely economic. Britain joined because joining the European project was perceived to be a way to stop its relative economic decline. This was a business, economic decision, for material benefit. There is nothing bad in this. It is normal for this period in our history and was made under the influence of Taurus, which rules the personality nature of GB. Taurus governs the material outer form of the nation; it is this factor that has led her people to appear before the world under the symbol of John Bull, expressive of the British personality. And it worked for a while. Participation in the EU market improved the GDP. But this is no longer the case. As a percentage share, British trade with the EU has fallen by almost 0% since 999. Further, the Common Market share of global trade is consistently falling against the highly competitive Asian economies, decreasing GB s global trade. Leaving the EU will not cripple GB economically. It will just have to use its Gemini ingenuity to forge new, beneficial trade deals and it is masterly at this. Entry also gained greater freedom of movement within the EU for its people. This suited GB because its soul is governed by Gemini, one of the travelling signs, and its people have always travelled the globe. This latter, which gives easy access to Europe s cultural centres, seems to be the main reason people wished to stay. https://voxeu.org/article/britain-s-eu-membership-new-insight-economic-history Alice Bailey, Destiny of the Nations, 80

B. What did Great Britain lose?. Firstly, GB damaged its relation with the British Commonwealth. It lost the goodwill of its Commonwealth affiliates who felt betrayed in 97 when it cut away trade with these countries. The prevailing thought in the former colonies was we gave our sons to you to fight in the World Wars and barely 0 years later you repay us by going off with the enemy Germany. These countries recovered economically, but this does not change the fact that the act caused economic and also potential spiritual harm. This latter because according to Djwhal Khul, GB and the Commonwealth had an important spiritual function in world affairs. The governing faculty of the Ray of Will or Power is the outstanding characteristic of Great Britain.. her function has been to produce the first tentative grouping of federated nations [the British Commonwealth] the world has seen and to demonstrate the possibility of such a grouping. The U.K. is the nucleus or the living germ of the British Commonwealth of Nations wherein a great experiment in free government is being tried out; this gives complete internal freedom and choice to each related Dominion, plus an equally complete and free interrelationship. The Dominions are all of them independent nations, but belong to a united Commonwealth; a pattern is thereby presented for world consideration. Some may argue that this experiment had run its course. But another quote suggests not. The Shamballa force is working through the British Empire to help bring about world synthesis and to establish on earth just, legal systems. The Shamballa force is working through that community of federated nations called the British Empire and is expressing the will-towards-synthesis and the will to just and legal procedure. When the current status of humanity is examined and the divisions in our societies are noticed and the inequities that occur in law if one is privileged and has money; we can see that these goals are hundreds of years away in realisation. There is no evidence that this important task was being pursued in the described context, while GB was in the EU. Brexit could re-energise this spiritual goal. . More importantly, by joining the EU, GB compromised its sovereignty. It is the author s opinion that Great Britain s contribution to world civilisation and governance is not yet over and it should not be reduced to the status of a satellite state. EU membership forces this on its members through binding laws. This strangling of the autonomy of member states conflicts with a direction given by the Master Djwhal Khul, who said: The new world order will not impose a uniform type of government.. a system of standardisation upon the nations. The sovereign rights of each nation will be recognised. The EU model is in violation of this directive. It has given itself exclusive rights over customs / internal market / fisheries policy / commercial policy / certain international agreements. Here is a statement from the European Court of Justice in 96. By creating a Community of unlimited duration, having its own institutions, its own personality, its own legal capacity and capacity of representation on the international plane and, more particularly, real powers stemming from a limitation of sovereignty or a transfer of powers from the States to Community, the Member States have limited their sovereign rights and have thus created a body of law which binds both their nationals and themselves...the transfer by the States from their domestic legal system to the Community legal system of the rights and obligations arising under the Treaty carries with it a permanent limitation of their sovereign rights. The EU can legally interfere in social policy, energy, freedoms, security and importantly with justice. Some campaigning to remain in the EU claim that only % of laws passed by Parliament implement the UK's obligations under EU law. This figure ignores the many EU regulations that are automatically binding on the UK and do not pass through Parliament. Some of those campaigning to leave the EU claim that 65% of UK law is EU-influenced. This interference is not beneficial for the EU s poorer states, some of whom are in real trouble. Southern Europe countries are unable to do the things they need to do to kickstart their economies because decisions are being taken on their behalf in Brussels, for the benefit of the entire group that do not favour the affected country. This affects the overall well-being of the organisation. Metaphorically, sick parts of the body corporate are unable to heal and this must eventually cause serious damage to the overall organism. Perhaps GB is wise to leave before things get seriously worse. Djwhal Khul also said mankind is not ready for a super-government such as the EU. Nor will it be until it can provide the personnel required to wisely run such a powerful organism. The latter seems to be many decades away and this is an optimistic view. Mankind is not ready for some super-government, nor can it yet provide the unselfish and trained statesmen that such a government would require. As yet, there are more seeds of danger in this concept than there are of helpfulness. Nevertheless, it is a dream which will some day materialise, after the creation and the functioning of blocs have proved how men should work and live together. In the new world order, the governing body in any nation should be composed of those who work for the greatest good of the greatest number and who at the same time offer opportunity to all, seeing to it that the individual is left free. 5 That time is not now. The EU is run by bureaucrats who are not directly elected by the people; it is not a democratically accountable body. The Aquarian Age model for the New World Order is government for the people. The EU in its present form is government for corporations, for big business. Alice Bailey, Externalisation of the Hierarchy, 9 European Court of Justice 96, in reference to case of Costa v ENEL https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-6756 Alice Bailey, Externalisation of the Hierarchy, 60 5 Ibid, 9

C. Great Britain s Spiritual Goals?. Great Britain is a masculine, ruling country This means it is positive, mental, political, governing, group-conscious, inclusive, thinks in wider terms, is occult by inclination, has a deep interest in law and in laying the emphasis upon race and empire. Its great contribution to the world has been its governing and legal systems. The EU has eclipsed its power and independence and if its time as a major, independent world influencer was over, this may not be a negative. But its influential days are not over. Djwhal Khul said in the 950 s that the future of the Anglo-Saxon (majorly Great Britain and the US), has yet to reach the high-water mark for world good. There is no evidence that this has yet occurred. The future for the Anglo-Saxon is great and not yet has the highest flow of the tide of its civilisation been reached. History holds much glory for England and America when they work together for world good, not supplanting each other or interfering with each other's empire but working in the fullest unison for the preservation of the peace of the world and the right handling of world problems in the field of economics and of education.. The soul of GB is ruled by Gemini and the nd Ray of Love-Wisdom. Gemini carries the nd Ray and via its ruler Mercury, its function is to relate the higher and lower. In this case to help blend and fuse people of the earth. While Russia is fusing and blending eastern Europe and northern Asia, and the US is fusing and blending central-western Europe and the entire western hemisphere; the British Empire, is fusing and blending races and men throughout the entire world. This latter work would appear to be related largely to the Commonwealth, which GB forged together from its colonising days. Here is the value of the Commonwealth. This collective and its ongoing intercourse is fusing and blending disparate people in the world and this is a critical function required for the Aquarian Age. Associated with this, Djwhal Khul said that Great Britain is the custodian of wisdom for the Aryan race. Such a function could still naturally be carried out if it remained a member of the EU. But the point being made is that Great Britain still has important world-service work to do for thousands of years. It has to teach the world to be wiser in its actions and it seems more likely in this century that this will manifest through the Commonwealth than in any other way.. A harmonising influence. In the future, Great Britain will emerge into renewed activity with Commonwealth member India, to help bring harmony to the world through wise governance. India hides the light and that light, when released upon the world will bring about harmony.. it will bring about the right functioning of the first Ray of Power or Government. The will of the people will then be seen in the light. It is in this connection that Great Britain will emerge into renewed activity for her personality ray and India's soul ray are the same. These are areas of service that Great Britain has before it. Alice Bailey, Externalisation of the Hierarchy, 507 Alice Bailey, Destiny of the Nations, 0 Ibid, 5 Ibid, 5

C. The Brexit Deal and the Future. GB is scheduled to leave the EU at pm, 9 March 09. It is important for people to realise, Brexit does not mean divorce from Europeans, a separation from people. It is a separation from the strangling administration body of the EU and bureaucrats who run it and set its rules. Those who voted to leave originally and who now see that people s attitudes have shifted, should realise that this does not necessarily mean people want to stay in the EU. Many hardliners like Boris Johnson don t want the deal because they say too many concessions have been made. A breakdown of the demographic stats in the Brexit vote seems to indicate that the same groups who support Donald Trump in the US and other rightist politicians in the western world, (older, white, lesseducated working class people), voted for Brexit. From this, some remainers claim that these are ignorant, non-spiritual and racist people who want to go back to the past. This is not true and simplistic. The vote was not for openly racist or divisive policies that attack human rights issues as it has been under Trump; but about gaining greater autonomy. The more vulnerable in the community welcome this. For instance, a reason given for the reactions by working class people, is that they take the brunt of open-border immigration and have to compete with migrants for diminishing labouring jobs. They have no say about this. There is nothing wrong with their objections. They are members of the community who still have to feed and house their families. University educated people are more mobile and are able to move freely in Europe for employment. These preferences collided. There are many (obviously) who think that in the long run including economically, GB will be better off out of the EU.. In its current form, commentators say the Brexit Deal is terrible Britain gives up much and gains little, is the common theme for the Brexit deal. If this is true, it is another example of the autocratic attitude of the EU and its power to control member states (the EU has Leo rising) and a reason for Great Britain to leave and go its own way economically. But one thing is sure. We are dealing with Great Britain here, a major nation with a powerful heart and fighting spirit. It has made its mark for the better on world civilisation that is out of all proportion to its physical size and it has not yet reached its zenith in this regard. No matter which way it will go leave or remain, it will survive and continue to make its mark. Its time is not yet over. Great Britain entered the EU under a materialistic Taurus impulse. Perhaps its destiny is to leave. Either way, it is clear that the raging debate that is taking place, the selfexamination of wants, needs and values and the final decision, is taking place under the Gemini soul influence. A look at history shows that country borders are continually changing and shifting. This is normal and healthy. GB s separation from the administrative EU ruling body is not a violation of any spiritual law. It is simply an economic adjustment and an attempt to regain control of its internal affairs. This latter is in line with the principles of the Aquarian Age. 5
