Beginning May 1st you can check out a bike from the library! Enjoy the convenience of biking around town without the need to maintain or store the bike yourself. Bikes checkout for 48 hours to any patron 18 years or older. To learn more and checkout a bike today, visit the Circulation. Learn to Play Mah Jongg! Join local Mah Jongg expert, Janice White, every Tuesday evening for a 7 week course to learn the fascinating game of Mah Jongg. No experience necessary. Diana and Gary VanMiddlesworth will discuss how they were able to spend 6 weeks in Thailand, traveling all over the country and also to Cambodia. Their talk will include how we were able to stay within our budget for transportation, food, and lodging. They will give a powerpoint presentation and will bring samples of Thai food. Travel Talk: India with Jesse Samm Monday, May 15, 6:30 PM Take a virtual trip to Hyderabad, India! Learn about cultural differences, as well as the food and sights of this interesting city. Cooking With Kids Wednesday, May 10, 4:00 PM Each month we prepare a simple, kid-friendly snack, talk about cooking basics, and read some stories while we enjoy our treat. This month we ll be making Nutella Rolls. Space is limited, so please register by May 6. Masterpiece of the Month Wednesday, May 24, 4:00 PM Listen to a story and create your own masterpiece! This month, we ll draw inspiration from Beth Krommes, illustrator of The House in the Night, to create our own scratch board art. All ages are welcome. LOCAL HISTORY Time Travelin Genealogy Guild Wednesday, May 3, 6:00 PM Join a group of local family history gurus to learn tips and tricks, share stories, and discover new resources. TTGG meets on the first Wednesday of every month in the Local History department. All technology classes are for beginners and are free and open to the public, but registration is required since space is limited. Introduction to Cloud Computing Friday, May 5, 11:00 AM Introduction to Cloud Computing will introduce patrons to cloud computing, demonstrate free cloud software from Google and Microsoft, and explain why cloud computing is the way the world will be using computers in the future. Managing Your Digital Photos Tuesday, May 16, 12:00 PM Managing Your Digital Photos will discuss the basics of importing digital photographs from your camera or phone to your computer, give tips on organizing large numbers of photos, new and creative ways of managing photos across different devices like phones, tablets, and cameras, and demonstrate some basic photo editing techniques. Advanced Word Processing Tuesday, May 30, 12:00 PM Advanced Word Processing will discuss the more advanced features of modern word processing software.
