MEETING OF THE MERCER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS September 27, 2018 Attendance Present Absent By Phone Notes Timothy M. McGonigle Scott Boyd Matthew B. McConnell Pledge of Allegiance: was held. Others Present: Tom Amundsen, Jeff Greenburg, Ann Morrison, Dana Flick, Molly Moser. General Discussion Items: See Below. Announced the approval of the Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas on the Square tree decorating event on 11/30/2018. Commissioners announced that the railroad bridge tunnel on Route 62 will be closed October 9th through the 19th so PennDOT can make repairs to the tunnel. A detour will be posted using Interstate 79, Interstate 80, and Route 19. Commissioner have been in discussion with PennDOT about downgrades of open grate bridges that need work. There are several bridges impacted and the repairs are a larger than anticipated expense. Hopefully the State will cooperate with funding in excess of the Twelve Year Transportation Program (TYP). Greenburg responded to inquiries from the Commissioners about the availability of absentee ballots. The deadline to apply is 10-30-18. The recommendation is to mail them one week prior due to possible delays with USPS. Greenburg also answered questions on the production of supply boxes used by the precincts. The requirements are specialized and to date, local Mercer County printers have not been able to fulfill the order. In addition, opportunities for in-house/in county printing of paper ballots may be available with the change to new voting machines.
