CLUB and FEDERATION INFORMATION: Club members Dale Neale and Pat Johnson donating dictionaries to 3rd grade students at Chahta Ima Elementary School on September 15, 2017 St. Tammany Judicial Candidates running in the October 16th Election were the speakers at our September 26th meeting. L-R: Reginald Laurent, Dale Neale, Alan Zaunbrecher, Jay Adair, Madelon Nohra, and William Burris. Representative Paul Hollis has offered to give members of our club a tour of the new Northshore Technical Community College STEM campus. It is just off Hwy 434, north of the interstate. Dale Neale will be arranging a tour of the campus with Representative Hollis in the Fall. Further information will be sent out as to date and time. 2

St. Tammany Parish Council plans to ask voters a third time to approve two sales tax renewals, one for the Parish Courthouse and one for the Parish Jail. These measures were rejected by voters in April 2016 and again in April 2017. "My reading of history convinces me that most bad government Results from too much government." Little (LBT): 8,767 Neil Riser (REP): 72,792 John Schroder (REP): 96,440 - W Democrat Derrick Edwards and Republican John Schroder will be in a runoff in the November 18 General Election. 3

NOVEMBER 18 GENERAL ELECTION CALENDAR DEADLINE IN PERSON/BY MAIL REGISTRATION October 18 DEADLINE ONLINE REGISTRATION October 28 DEADLINE TO REQUEST A MAIL BALLOT November 14 DEADLINE TO SUBMIT A MAIL BALLOT November 17 EARLY VOTING November 3 -- 11 ELECTION DAY November 18 OPEN HOUSE PUBLIC HEARING: The Regional Planning Commission (RPC), along with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is proposing to widen a portion of LA 434 and replace the timber trestle bridge over Bayou Lacombe in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. The RPC encourages the public to attend at the following time and place: Thursday, October 19, 2017 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Northshore Technical Community College Lacombe Campus 65556 Centerpoint Boulevard Lacombe, LA 70445 Informational handouts, maps, and graphic displays will be available at the hearing. A looping presentation will be shown describing the project, alternatives studied, the preferred alternative, impacts from the project, acquisition of right-of-way, and relocation assistance.
