2 OPPOSITION MEMBERS MOTIONS Debatable Motions Motion 6 by Mr. Alward, seconded by Mr. Robichaud to propose e following resolution on Thursday, November 26, 2009: WHEREAS e proposed sale of NB Power to Hydro Quebec has been met wi a great deal of skepticism and public opposition; and WHEREAS ere are many questions surrounding e Memorandum of Understanding at have not been answered by is government including e valuation of assets and e long term implications on rates at is deal may have on e people of New Brunswick; and WHEREAS e Liberal Party of New Brunswick and e current Government of New Brunswick ran on an election platform in bo 2003 and 2006 provincial general elections to not sell NB Power; and WHEREAS e current Liberal government has not sought a mandate from e principle shareholders of NB Power to sell its assets; BE IT RESOLVED at is Legislative Assembly recommend at all current business dealings wi respect to e sale of NB Power to e Province of Quebec and Hydro-Quebec be immediately suspended until such time as a general election is held or a referendum is convened whereby e people of New Brunswick may decide in an open, transparent and democratic forum as to eir wishes for is publicly owned and operated utility.
