Comprehensive Facilities Planning Update - Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Tim Wald introduced Paul Aplikowski, Partner, of Wold Architects and Engineers and John Huenink, Vice President and Director of Education, and Brian Hook, Director of Field Operations of Kraus-Anderson. They provided an overview of the services they provide and their roles as design team and construction manager in our comprehensive facilities review and planning. The presentation is available on the district website. 2. District of Distinction Award: Race to Reduce Partnership - Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Sara Paul reported that in July WBLAS received national recognition as a District of Distinction for our Race to Reduce Water Resource Education Initiative in Partnership with H2O for Life and with support from the MN Legislature. Present to provide information were H2O for Life Co-founder Patty Hall, H2O for Life Program Manager Judy Onufer, Extended Day representative Carrie Troske, students Rayme Nyembwe and Sophie Davis, Senator Wiger and Representative Fischer. The students described the impact of the program and their experience testifying at the Legislature. 3. Summer Career Pathway Success - Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Sara Paul reported that WBLAS continues to be recognized as a leader for developing career pathways aligned to workforce needs with four pathways: Construction, Information Technology, Manufacture and Health Care. During the summer 69 students completed internships with all but one paid internships. Present to provide information were district Career Pathways Navigators Jenny Moore and Jeremy Kerg. Sam Ebute of the MN Trades Academy provided information on the summer opportunities for students in the Construction pathway. Student Bela Larsen described her participation as one of the eight students in the Gen Z Connections program. Raj Shah of Firefly Computers hired sixteen interns participating in the Information Technology pathway. Student Danica Johnson described her experience as one of the twelve students who completed the Health Partners Career Academy. The presentation is available on the district website.

4. Superintendent s Report - Dr. Cook from the Cambria Group is here this week to continue work on the Strategic Plan with the Leadership Team and building leaders. School Supply lists are available on the district website. Information about welcome back activities is on the individual school websites. School starting dates are: Tuesday, Sep. 4 for Grades 6-12; Wednesday, Sep. 5 for Grades 1-5; Thursday, Sep. 6 for kindergarten. Senior Activities Passes are available to community members age 65 and older. Call the Superintendent s Office 651 407-7563 to request a free activity pass and District Activities Calendar. WBLAS are currently hiring a variety of positions for the 2018-19 school year and these positions can be found on the district website. Arriving in mailboxes soon will be the Community Services Fall Catalog and the 2018-19 Activities Calendar. Additional information can be found on the district website www.isd624.org D. DISCUSSION ITEMS 1. Update on Partnership with MacPhail Center for Music Assistant Superintendent Tim Wald presented information on our partnership with the MacPhail Center for Music located at Birch Lake Elementary which provides students with a significant music experience. It also provides the opportunity for students and families of the district, as well as surrounding districts, to take lessons and participate in other programs offered by MacPhail. 2. Update on Partnership with White Bear Center for the Arts - Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Tim Wald presented information on our partnership with the White Bear Center for the Arts which provides art experiences to all K-5 students. 3. Report on District-Wide Radon Test Results - Building Operations Supervisor Dan Roeser presented information on the District Radon Testing Plan required by MN Statute 123B.571. E. OPERATIONAL ITEMS 1. Chapman moved and Newmaster seconded to approve administration recommendation to approve partnership with MacPhail Center for Music for 2018-19 school year consistent with contract. Roll call vote: ayes, Beloyed, Chapman, Ellison, Fahey, Mullin, Newmaster, Wilson. Nays none. Motion carried. 2. Ellison moved and Mullin seconded to approve the recommendation to approve the contract with the White Bear Center for the Arts for the 2018-19 school year in the amount of $85,200. Roll call vote: ayes, Beloyed, Chapman, Ellison, Fahey, Mullin, Newmaster, Wilson. Nays none. Motion carried. 3. Wilson moved and Chapman seconded to approve the one year 2018-19 individual contracts for Cabinet positions to include: Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, Director of Community Services and Recreation, Director of Communications and Community Relations, and Director of Technology and Innovation. Roll call vote: ayes, Beloyed, Chapman, Ellison, Fahey, Mullin, Newmaster, Wilson. Nays none. Motion carried.

4. Chapman moved and Fahey seconded to approve Policy 730, Use of Electronic Signatures to Conduct Official Business, as recommended by the Policy Committee and Cabinet. Voice vote: all ayes.
