MAKING WAVE S October 1, 2016 www.rsyc-indiana.org Founded 1954 FROM THE HELM The Rising Sun Yacht Club is diligently working on plans for the annual Christmas Party and Commodores Ball. We will start our festivities Friday night, December 9th in a semiprivate dining area in the Hops House 99 at Hollywood Casino. Free shuttle service will be provided between the casino and our hotel all weekend long. A special room rate of $99 per night as been arranged for our members and guests at the Double Tree by Hilton in Lawrenceburg. Be sure to tell them you are with the Rising Sun Yacht Club. The cutoff date is Wednesday, November 9th. Rooms are going fast, if our allotment is used up when you make your reservations, please contact. Mike may be able to increase our allotment of rooms. We are heading to Château Pomije Winery, Restaurant and Vineyard near Guilford, Indiana Saturday afternoon, December 10th. We plan on heavy appetizers and wine sampling by the fireplace in their enchanting wine room. We are currently investigating the availability of transportation to and from the winery. We will have more information in a few more weeks. The gala event, our Christmas Party and Commodores Ball will be Saturday night at the Lawrenceburg Event Center connected to our hotel. We are happy to report, by popular demand, the band Vigor is returning to entertain us. We are currently evaluating catering options. Again we will have more details in a few weeks. Tom Bayer will be sworn in as commodore along with other incoming 2017 RSYC officers. We hope to award a Ding-a-Ling award. Please submit your nomination and story about a member who performed a maneuver or activity this past year that was not in accordance with good seamanship standards. Current Ding-a-Ling award winner, will be collecting nominations.
