CAREER EXPERIENCE/JOB HISTORY Started work in 1980 as Assistant Immigration Officer and rose through various ranks and portfolios up to the rank of Chief Immigration Officer which was later changed to Director General of Immigration. During my service, I worked as Officer in Charge for various border controls, as Regional Immigration Officer and as Chief of Staff before being promoted to the post of Director General of Immigration. SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS UNDERTAKEN - Attended capacity building seminars in the SADC Region on One Stop Border, Human Trafficking, Terrorism, Money Laundering, Irregular Migration and Security Threats and Passport Examination. - Chaired meetings for Chiefs of Immigration under COMESA. - Chaired some meetings on SADC Defence and Security on Troika for Immigration Chiefs.
ARCHIEVMENTS Advocated for Officer s military training in the department; Advocated for computerization in the department as far back as 1989; Researched on smuggling of essential commodities into neighbouring countries and whose recommendations were applied by Government to end smuggling in 1991; Participated in the reforms to restructure the department, to fight corruption and improve efficiency through computerization. Participated in the change of Immigration Laws; Inspired several workmates to pursue sturdies up to University level; Through team work inspired many Officers to work hard without looking at time; Introduced several tailor made courses such as Prosecution, Investigations, Risk Management, etc., in order to improve efficiency in the system; Advocated for Inter-departmental transfer of knowledge with other Security Wings; Encouraged the officers to be open and share experiences in HIV/AIDS related matters and supported them through food supplements; and Became the first Director General of Immigration on implementation of the new Immigration Act No. 18 of 2010. Retired in national interest with effect from 23 rd October, 2012 having worked for 31 years of unbroken service in Government. CURRENT OCCUPATION CONSULTANCY AND FARMING INTERESTS Watching and playing football match, playing table tennis and farming.
