ABOUT IOM The International Organization for Migration is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration with more than 470 field locations worldwide. Iman, 47 years old, returned to Iraq in 2010 and works in a clothing shop. IOM is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. www.iom.int Cover picture: Mohammed returned to KR-I and settled in Erbil in late 2012. After three months and a couple of interviews that did not work out, he was hired through the MAGNET project as a sales representative by an information technology company.

MAGNET II MAGNET II is a project implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the support of the Bureau of Migration and Displacement (BMD) and in coordination with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). The objective is to foster long-term socioeconomic reintegration of Iraqi voluntary returnees by linking them to potential employers in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and vice versa. Rasool returned to Sulaymaniyah in 2012. He found a job as an oil drill operator in less than three months through the MAGNET project. The company that hired him provided on the job training as he had no previous experience in this line of work. Primarily funded by the European Return Fund (Community Actions 2013), MAGNET II aims at strengthening the links between IOM and the private sector in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in order to facilitate the job referral of voluntary returnees and to increase the number of available job offers. More information is available on www.magnet-project.eu Important notice MAGNET II is a project created to assist voluntary returnees in finding a job for ensuring their long-term socio-economic reintegration.
