NOTES 1. Voting on Mission Statement The following potential mission statement (developed in the September 29, 2017 club meeting) was put forth for discussion. All agreed upon changes are in bold. The mission of the Paradise Valley Community College STEAM Club is to create a unified, inclusive community that works together with service, diversity, and entertainment to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Motion taken to vote on approval/rejection of the above mission statement: YEA 16 PASS NAY 0 2. STUGO Fundraiser Update Vice President Cierra informed the club of the following updates to the upcoming STUGO fundraiser: Instead of a rummage sale, the fundraiser will now be more of a farmer s market. The money raised from selling vendor spaces will be donated to United Way hurricane relief efforts. The event will take place at the following time and location : November 4, 2017 7:00AM-12:00PM (subject to change) PVCC Black Mountain Campus 3. T-Shirt & Flyer Designs Member Milla Vasquez put forth a design for the club to put on shirts to sell and use to promote the club. Motion taken to vote on approval/rejection of Milla s design: YEA 16 PASS NAY 0 Motion taken to add a T-Shirt & Flyer Committee appointment to the agenda.

4. Middle School Career Day The Middle School Career Day will take place at the following time and location: Friday, October 13, 2017 9:00AM-1:00PM PVCC Main Campus Members interested in volunteering for this event should contact faculty member Gary Kellgren ( gary.kellgren@maricopa.edu ). 5. STEAM Night/Star Party The STEAM Night featuring Nursing & EMT presentations and the following Star Party will take place at the following time and place: Thursday, October 19, 2017 6:00PM-7:00PM (STEAM Night) 7:00PM-10:00PM (Star Party) PVCC Black Mountain Campus Interested members are requested to RSVP to events@pasaz.org. 6. Committee Appointment A. Spirit Fest Committee Spirit Fest is an upcoming event put on by STUGO to promote school spirit in the theme of Celebrating Milestones in the Last 30 Years. STUGO Fundraiser Committee Tuesday, October 10, 2017 3:00PM PVCC Library The appointed chair and contact person for this committee is Milla Vasquez ( milla.vasquez2001@gmail.com ). NOTE: Responsibilities of chairpersons include keeping/ distributing committee meeting minutes and using best efforts to make sure meeting times are agreeable to all committee members. Committee members have the right to remove themselves from a committee at any time. All STEAM Club members have the right to join any committee at any time, with the committee chair s approval. 7. Official STEAM Club Website President Mak presented the new STEAM club website, which is located at https://www.paradisevalley.edu/academics/steam/steam-student-club The club mission statement, as well as meeting minutes, can be found on the website. 8. On-Campus Tutoring Opportunity President Mak presented an opportunity for interested members to work on-campus in the Learning Support Center as tutors. Trained tutors can receive international CRLA certification. Interested members should contact President Mak Jreissat ( mak2123543@maricopa.edu ) for an application. 9. On-Campus Sustainability Project Member Racquel Severino presented a project she is currently working on to make our campus more sustainable and beautiful using

an empty 4.4 acres on campus near the Q Building. Potential uses for the land include: Community Garden Outdoor Amphitheater Nature Conservancy Meditation Maze Volleyball Court Members interested in working on this project should contact Racquel Severino ( raq2138267@maricopa.edu ). ACTION ITEMS 1. Each committee will meet in the next week and be prepared to report a summary of their progress at the next club meeting.
