MANTECA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT Manteca Unified Vocational Academy BOARD OF EDUCATION Consent Item 1 Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, June 9, 2015 TIME, DATE, PLACE, ESTABLISHMENT OF A QUORUM The Budget/LCAP meeting of the Board of Education was called to order by President Deborah Romero at 7:52 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, in the District Office Board Room, 2271 West Louise Avenue, Manteca, California. Members present other than President Deborah Romero were: Ashley Drain, Sam Fant, Evelyn Moore, Michael Seelye, and Nancy Teicheira. Also in attendance was Superintendent Jason Messer and Deputy Superintendent Clark Burke, Ed. D. Others joining the meeting were: Senior Director of Business Services/CBO, Jacqui Breitenbucher; Senior Director of Elementary Education, Cheryl Meeker, Ed.D.; Senior Director of Special Education/Student Services, Roger Goatcher; and other school employees and interested citizens. (De Leon) FLAG SALUTE Trustee Michael Seelye led the salute to the flag. PUBLIC HEARINGS Receive Input From Public Regarding be.tech Career Academy Charter Petition (Renewal) The be.tech Career Academy Charter Petition (Renewal) (MUVA) is being submitted to the Board of Education for review and has been available for public review in the lobby of the administration offices of Manteca Unified School District as well as the District s website. The Public Hearing is being held for public input. No one spoke to this item. The public hearing was declared closed. Receive Input From Public Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 36 of the California Constitution, the Education Protection Account Manteca Unified Vocational Academy (be.tech) President Romero stated that it is a legal requirement that this proposal be presented in a Public Hearing pursuant to Article XIII Section 36 of the California Constitution. Manteca USD s Board of Education is required to determine how the moneys received from the Education Protection Account are spent in the schools within its jurisdiction and shall not be used for salaries and benefits of administrators or any other administrative costs. Refer to attachment A the 2015-2016 Education Protection Account Budget document, with proposed dollar amounts to be used for salaries and benefits for teachers. As no one spoke to this item, the public hearing was closed. Receive Input From Public Regarding Manteca Unified Vocational Academy (be.tech) Proposed 2015-2016 Local Control and Accountability Plan It is a legal requirement that this proposal be presented in a Public Hearing. The Manteca Unified Vocational Academy s Board of Education is required to create the Local Control and Accountability Plan to ensure the most effective use of available State funding to improve outcomes for all students. Refer to the attached MUVA 2015-2016 Proposed Local Control and Accountability Plan. The public hearing was closed as no one spoke to this item.

ACTION ITEMS Consider Approval to Change the Name of Manteca Unified Vocational Academy (MUVA) to be.tech Career Academy Charter and Approve the Revised be.tech Career Academy Charter Petition A motion was made by Trustee Seelye and a second was made by Trustee Fant to approve to Change the Name of Manteca Unified Vocational Academy (MUVA) to be.tech Career Academy and Approve the Revised be.tech Career Academy Charter Petition as presented. Motion passed unanimously. Consider Approval of Resolution 14/15-75, Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 36 of the California Constitution, the Education Protection Account Manteca Unified Vocational Academy (be.tech) A motion was made by Trustee Moore and a second was made by Trustee Seelye to approve Resolution 14/15-75, Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 36 of the California Constitution, the Education Protection Account (EPA) Manteca Unified Vocational Academy (be.tech Career Academy). Motion passed unanimously. Motion passed unanimously.
