We have only a few days to go, so we need to focus on all the details to make this another great show. Most of the show job functions have been filled by the members that worked these functions last year. Thank you all for the support! We will definitely need some help setting up the selling tables, as most all of the items are at Ken s shop. If you have any questions on the details of your assignments or can help haul set-up materials, please contact me at 92-443-632 or my email rjkehl@comcast.net. Remember, you have until September 1st to get your entries and table requests into Mike Pocha for the show! Entries and set up for the show will start on Friday the 7 th from 3-9pm. We will be able to start entries as soon as we have the computer and tables set up, so be patient. While you wait, you can set up your display tables right away. I encourage you to get your entries now to beat the crowd on Friday or on Saturday before 9:30AM! You also can set up your tables at this time. Mike has already received entries and table requests, so we are off and running. This year we will have a completely new stock of items for the country store. I have been working with a team of carvers from our Tuesday carving days to put together Beginner carver kits containing a glove and a thumb guard and some simple projects that can get interested new carvers started. We also have a good selection of wood for any turner folks again this year, as well as basswood, cottonwood bark, and bark board for the carvers at the show. Thanks to a bunch of great donations, we have another great array of goodies for the silent auction. Remember after the first day of the show, Saturday evening, we have dinner at the Gay Nineties Pizza Co. restaurant just across the street from the Vet s Hall. This is a no host dinner. If you want to attend, make sure you sign up with Paul Fackler. This year we are having a buffet style setup for the food, so there isn t a delay getting your food. The dinner is a great way to get together after our first show day. Continued next page

September 2018 TVC Newsletter (http://www.tri-valleycarvers.com.) Page 2 From the Pres (continued) I really want to thank a great turnout for our milling party August 2th! We had 8 folks working on getting our turner wood stock in shape to sell at the show. The wood stock we have is of great variety of species of wood and sizes. The folks that like to turn or carve different wood should check out our inventory at the show. Election of officers Every two years we have an election of officers. This is a formality of our bylaws. The officers are President, Vice President, Treasurer, Two Secretaries and Advisor. There are Officer job descriptions shown on the Tri-Valley website (in the By-Laws tab) that define the responsibilities of the office. If you are interested in any of these positions, Please, present your nominations at the November business meeting or to the present officers prior to the meeting. We need to make sure nominees are willing to run for the office to which they are nominated. We will finalize the nominations and hold elections at the January 12 th meeting. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! September 2018 TVC Newsletter (http://www.tri-valleycarvers.com.) Page 3 Bulletin Board by Paul Fackler [:] Pleasanton Library Showcase: The library showcase display turned out pretty nice. Thanks to the several members who loaned us carvings that showed each of the different styles of carving. I will be taking down the showcase on Friday, August 31, and will bring your carvings to the Shop on Tuesday, Sept. 4, for pickup. [:] TVC Show Dinner: The reservations are made! The TVC dinner, Saturday night, Sept. 8, will be at the Gay 90s pizza restaurant again this year. We ll start the festivities at 4:00pm. This year the dinner will be PRE-PAID, BUFFET STYLE. I implemented this change so that our service would be faster and so that we won't have to wait for each bill to be tabulated. The Buffet Menu includes: Lasagna, Veal Parmesan with Rigatoni, Prawns Porvencal with Angel Hair Pasta, Cob Salad, House Salad, Garlic Bread, and New York Cheesecake for Dessert. All for only $18.7 per person. Paul will be collecting money at carving on Tuesday. A final count of participants and payment needed by Tuesday, September 4. [:] TVC Show Early Entry and Set-Up: The early project entry and display set-up times on Friday, Sept. 7, are from 3:00-9:00pm. Project entries will be accepted starting at 3:30pm. [They need time to set up tables, computers, etc.] We encourage delivery of all entries as early as possible on Friday, but will be accepting remaining entries on Saturday. The early entry time is important so that the bulk of the judging can be done before Saturday. The judging on Saturday will close at 9:30am. Please take advantage of using the entry form that can be found on line or in this newsletter and mail it to Mike Pocha, 1176 Farmington Way, Livermore, CA 940, no later than September 1. [:] TVC Officer Elections at our meeting, January 12. All offices are open : President, Vice President, Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer.
