Their mission is to specialize in PTSD and/or TBI Service Dogs. Their focus is on those persons that have served our country as a US Military Member, Law Enforcement Officer, Fire Fighter, or EMS Worker. This event starts at 6:30 p.m. with our meet and greet, and the main meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. It will be held at the Richardson Fire Department Training Center. Alicia will explain what is needed at the regular meeting. Come sign up to get your slot. Remember, even if you do not sign up to help host, members are encouraged to come and meet the new students. However, dinner will not be provided for visitors. But heck, come out to visit anyway. There was a great turnout for the Richardson CFAAA 2015 After the Holiday Holiday Party that was held in the Parks Room, at the Richardson Civic Center, on Arapaho Rd.,on January 26, 2016 beginning at 6:30 PM. We had a White Elephant gift exchange. Talk about good food and fun. We look forward to seeing you all at the regular meeting on February 23 th at the training center. We are also looking for a few good board members. We are also looking to add staff to the CPR trainers. If you are interested, give me a call: 214-564-9853. This is a cannon and not a fire hose and there are two stacks of cannon balls. One of the early firefighting techniques was to destroy adjoining buildings with cannons to prevent the fire from spreading. Probably a last resort effort in a densely populated area. Page 13 TCFAAA Update The TCFAAA meeting Saturday 1-23-2016 was hosted by Mansfield CFAAA at the Mansfield Public Safety Building, 1305 E. Broad St. Debbie Rosenstein introduced Barry Peterson Mansfield FD Liaison to CFAAA. Mansfield FD now has 4 stations, 72 Fifrefighters serving a population of 65,000+ people. Jamie Delong, 2015 President introduced the new 2016 TCFAAA Officers: Joe Cochran (Plano)- President, Melissa Garner (Garland)-V. President, Michael Norman (Frisco)-Secretary, Ken Johnstone (Irving)-Treasurer, & Robin McKinney (Grapevine)-Historian. The new Board presented Jamie Delong a special Certificate of Appreciation Plaque for her work as President in 2015. Jud Ladd, Mansfield CFAAA Director of Training provided a Program "Operations Support Team" for Mansfield Fire Rescue, including Rehab Team support & Fundraising for Mansfield FR. Goals: Volunteer support, Adequate resources, hold down costs, & compliance with NFP 1584. Team provides: Air bottle refill service, FF Rehab, Community Disaster support, Weather reports support, response & impact. Training: Advanced CFA Course, Hands-On CPR, Air & Light, Rehab. 3 vehicles: Utility-1 provides Air & Light support. Rehab-1 Rehab supplies Support-1 Special equipment Mansfield CFAAA is doing a Community Fundraising Project "Hold it 430" to raise $450,000 from 15,000 donations of $30 to fund a new Mansfield Air & Light Truck. Reports from 7 member cities included Mansfield, Roanoke, Garland, Grapevine, Irving, Plano, & Richardson. The next Quarterly meeting will be in conjunction with The Annual Chief's Forum in April, 2016. (Preferably 2nd or 4th Saturday). Frisco will not be able to host, so a new location needs to be determined. July, 2016 TBD Oct, 2016 TBD Richardson was represented by Rich Hardin, Ron Domke, & John Shea. Page 15 Upcoming & BTW CPR We are looking for volunteers to learn CPR and go on to become volunteer CPR instructors. Speakers? Know any interesting speakers to invite to speak at one of the CFAAA general meetings? If so, please let Alicia Marshall know who it is with contact info. Off-Site Get-Togethers The CFAAA will be holding off site get-togethers during 2016. Submit some ideas of where we can all meet for some relaxation and fellowship. Next CFA Class The next CFA class will start in March. See Alicia Marshall if you would like to help out at any sessions. March 17 - Overview of RFD, fire safety history, tour (2 needed) March 24 - RFD hiring process, training, PPA (3 needed) March 31 - Emergency services and helicopter (2 needed) April 7 - Fire apparatus, fire hose and stream operations (3 needed) April 14 - Incident management system, firefighting principles and practices (2 needed) April 21 - vehicle extrication (3 needed) April 28 - Special operations, high angle demos, confined space rescue, haz-mat (3 needed) May 5 - EMO/EOC communications tour (1 needed) May 12 - Fire prevention overview, fire extinguishers, make-up day (2 needed) May 19 - Pre-flashover demo/ search and rescue (2 needed) May 26 - Graduation Scholarship Committee The Scholarship Committee is looking for members to help select our CFAAA - RFD scholarship winner for 2016.
