PRESIDENT'S CORNER Hello everybody and I hope you are all happy and healthy. Fall is coming quick Spooks N Scoots is right around the corner (a great Halloween Party and Tribute to our Fallen Brothers, as well as, an ABATE State Meeting) - I sincerely recommend not missing it. Before you know it, it will be Thanksgiving and then Christmas; which brings us to our 4th Annual COA (Council on Aging) Run on December 6th and hoping all of you will mark your calendar to help make a good turn out for the seniors of Nassau County. Everything else in in the minutes if you need to catch up. SaraBeth Batwitch Kohl RIDE FREE Look Twice. Save A Life. Motorcycles are Everywhere!!! Meeting Agenda: September 18, 2014 ABATE of Florida, Inc. First Coast Chapter Meeting held at VFW Post 10095, 37965 Eastwood Rd, Hilliard, FL 32046 Members: 8 Visitors: 0 Opened: 1935 Pledge/Moment of Silence: would like to include Ann and Dan Bisdorf s daughter in our prayers. Presidents Report (SaraBeth Kohl): Thank you all for coming today. Elections are coming and I have brought copies of the candidates list as sent by our state legislative trustee. ABATE does not ever endorse candidates; just puts out all the information we can and I hope it is helpful in your decision making process. Motion: Doug Second: Barry Vice Presidents Report (Barry Sing): Have placed a motorcycle survey on our FaceBook page and would appreciate all that can sign on and take the survey. Motion: Lee Second: Doug Secretary s Report (Jeannie Steele): Motion to accept minutes as published: Barry Second: Lee Treasurers Report (Doug Kohl): Report filed timely and anyone may view the treasurer s report. As always, report is available for review upon request and the state report from the state meeting as well. Motion: SaraBeth Second: Barry 3

Membership Report (Barry Sing): Taking ideas and suggestions for membership/safety booths; Bike Nite Wednesdays at The Surf and Sundays at the Hammerhead were suggested. Renewed Ed Richstieg today and Renee McWhorter has transferred her membership to Daytona Chapter. Newsletter Report (SaraBeth Kohl): Newsletter is published with 1 to 1 ½ weeks after meetings. Anyone that wishes a hard copy of the newsletter mailed via the postal system, please make sure SaraBeth knows and it will be mailed; being a small chapter with limited resources, we are just trying to save as much as possible and emails are cheaper than postage. Please let me know anytime you see an error and I will correct it as soon as possible. PR/Communications Report (Barry Sing): Has added 3 new contacts for bike magazines in our area. Don t forget the meeting next month will be on the east side of the county at the VFW under the bridge (make a right just before crossing the inter-coastal) will still be 3 rd Thursday at 730 pm. Safety Director Report (Ernie Haskins): Still waiting on Duval to get back with me about JSO safety booth. Don t forget the safety booth we will be doing at Home Depot on A1A/200, Yulee, on 10/4; any help would be appreciated. Barry has been in touch with Schlag (Duval Chapter) about getting a class together for finishing some of the certifications that have been started. Ernie was presented with reimbursement check for the storage tubs for safety products. Products Report (Lee Januszkiewicz): Working on the inventory and will turn in at the next meeting. Went over some of the products we have and asked if there were anything we need to order from state; right now there is nothing we need to order. Webmaster Report (SaraBeth Kohl): Newsletters are updated with link to PDF as soon as newsletter is completed. Please let me know anytime you see an error and I will correct it as soon as possible. Tam brought to Sara s attention that the link from consecutive pages back to the home page needs to be fixed. I will work on that this week. Legislative (Doug Kohl): Let the games begin!...campaigns have started for the upcoming elections, I have already seen nothing but negative ads so far. The results of the early voting/primary elections indicate "the power of incumbents". Most political watchdogs think that there will be little change in our State Legislature, November will tell. ~~The city of Aventura tried to get the red light camera debacle heard by Florida's Supreme Court, however the Justices said "no". ~~Florida State is set to pick a new president; Jim Thrasher of St. Augustine appears to be the leader of that race. ~~There should be a list of candidates running for elections/re-election in Florida posted on the Abate of Florida website shortly, along with some basic information on where each candidate stands on related issues. ~~And the big news is about the medical marijuana issue, polls show support for it therefore the government will over-regulate it and of course, the entire thing will go to pot. (pun intended) ~~Stay tuned for more political mayhem! Old Business: COA Run, have flyers, take some and post as often and far and wide as possible. Has anyone gotten any donations for the seniors or for door prizes yet? ~Yard Sale??? It is still too hot and busy table until next month check on cost to have yard sale space at Pecan Park. New Business: Barry would like for membership to come up with something to do as a group, before next meeting; Dinner and Bowling? Consensus is to have a Halloween Cookout and trunk or treat at Lee s, date to be decided at next meeting. 4

Good to the Order: ~~Next state meeting will be Spooks N Scoots have flyer. ~~Barry- Also would like to make a showing FRIDAY NIGHT the 26th at Highway 17, good friend playing from 9 till 1. Duval said they are not going to use them as a stop or anything unless we`re involved. There shouldn`t be a problem with us anymore, bartender (manager) said she didn`t care, but would be nice if we could go in numbers to make our point. ~~Tam has approached Uncle Wayne to play for the COA Run, waiting for an answer. Motion to Adjourn at: 2015 by: Lee Second: Ian List of Donation Items Needed for Nassau County Seniors Christmas Gift Bags **Word Search Books - Not Cross words, the seniors do not care for crosswords.
