COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT City of Commerce City 2012 International Fire Code Code Amendments The City of Commerce City adopted the 2012 Edition of the International Fire Code, including Appendix Chapters B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I and J and the standards referenced therein. (a) Section 101.1 is amended to read as follows: These regulations shall be known as the Fire Code of the City of Commerce City, hereinafter referred to as this code. (b) Section 101.1.2, entitled Administration and Enforcement Assignments in the Different Fire Districts, is added to read as follows:: For the administration and enforcement of this code within the South Adams County Fire Protection District, the terms chief," "chief of the fire department," "fire marshal," "bureau of fire prevention," "fire prevention bureau," "fire prevention engineer," and "fire code official shall mean Fire Marshal of the South Adams County Fire Protection District, Colorado, except in Section 104.11 where the term chief shall mean "Chief of the South Adams County Fire Protection District" and the term fire department shall mean the "South Adams County Fire Protection District. For the administration and enforcement of this code within the Greater Brighton Fire Protection District, the terms chief," "chief of the fire department," "fire marshal," "bureau of fire prevention," "fire prevention bureau," "fire prevention engineer," and "fire code official shall mean Fire Marshal of the Greater Brighton Fire Protection District, except in Section 104.11 where the term chief shall mean "Chief of the Greater Brighton Fire Protection District" and the term fire department shall mean the "Greater Brighton Fire Protection District." (c) Section 101.1.3, entitled Interaction with other Standards, is added to read as follows: Whenever any county health department, state or federal law or regulation imposes a greater or more restrictive requirement than required by this code, the provisions of those laws or regulations shall govern. Whenever the requirements imposed by this code are greater or more restrictive than the requirements imposed by any other law or regulation or resolution of any governmental body, then the requirements of this code shall govern. (d) Section 108 is deleted in its entirety. (e) Section 109 is deleted in its entirety. (f) Section 111 is deleted in its entirety. (g) Section 308.1.4 is amended to read as follows: Charcoal burners, open-flame cooking devices and other open-flame devices shall not be operated on combustible balconies or within 10 feet (3048mm) of combustible construction. (h) Section 903.4.2.1 is added to read as follows: Approved audible and visual devices shall be installed throughout all buildings provided with an automatic sprinkler system. (i) Section 908.7.2 is a new section entitled Carbon Monoxide Alarm Conflicts is added to read: Whenever C.R.S. 38-45-101, et seq., imposes a greater or more restrictive requirement than Section 908.7 through 908.7.1, the provisions of C.R.S. 38-45-101, et seq., shall govern. Whenever the requirements imposed by Sections 908.7 through 908.7.1 impose a greater or more restrictive requirement than C.R.S. 38-45-101 the provisions of Sections 908.7 through 908.7.1 shall govern.

(j) Section 3103.2 is amended to read as follows: Tents and membrane structures having an area in excess of 400 square feet (37 m2) shall not be erected, operated or maintained for any purpose without first obtaining approval from the fire code official and a permit from the City of Commerce City building official. Exceptions: 1. Tents used exclusively for recreational camping purposes. 2. Tents open on all sides which comply with all of the following: 2.1 Individual tents having a maximum size of 700 square feet (65 m 2 ) 2.2 The aggregate area of multiple tents placed side by side without a fire break clearance of 12 feet (3658 mm) not exceeding 700 square feet total. 2.3 A minimum clearance of 12 feet (3658 mm) to all structures and other tents. (k) Section 5001.1., entitled Limitations, is amended to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 27 in which the storage and use of hazardous materials is prohibited is (l) Section 5001.1.1 is amended to be Section 5001.1.2 (m) Section 5101.1.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 51 in which the storage and use of aerosols is prohibited is established as follows: The entire city limits of Commerce City, Colorado except those areas permitted for such uses by the zoning laws of the said city as defined by the city zoning ordinance

(n) Section 5201.2.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 52 in which the storage and use of combustible fibers is prohibited is (o) Section 5301.1.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 53 in which storage and use of compressed gases is prohibited is (p) Section 5401.1.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 54 in which the storage and use of corrosive materials is prohibited is (q) Section 5501.1.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 55 in which the storage and use of cryogenic fluids is prohibited is (r) Section 5601.1.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 56 in which the storage, possession, manufacture, handling, sale or use of explosives, is established as follows: The entire city limits of Commerce City, Colorado except those areas permitted for such uses by the zoning laws of the said city as defined by the city zoning ordinance

(s) Section 5701.1.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 57 in which the storage and use of flammable or combustible liquids is zoning ordinance The limitations in Section 5704.2 in which the storage and use of flammable or combustible liquids underground either outside or under buildings is prohibited, is established as follows: The entire city limits of Commerce City, Colorado except those areas permitted for such uses by the zoning laws of the said city as defined by the city zoning ordinance (t) Section 5801.1.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 58 in which the storage and use of flammable gases and flammable cryogenic fluids is prohibited, is established as follows: The entire city limits of Commerce City, Colorado except those areas permitted for such uses by the zoning laws of the said city as defined by the city zoning ordinance (u) Section 5901.1.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 59 in which the storage and use of flammable solids is prohibited, is (v) Section 6001.1.1, entitled Limitations, is added to read as follows: The limitations in Chapter 60 in which the storage and use of highly toxic and toxic materials is zoning ordinance
