Breaking Barriers is a collaborative of leaders from across systems dedicated to bringing alignment to services for children and families. (Item type: Information, discussion, action) 11 11:30 a.m. Item 2 Transitioning to An Integrated Local, State, and Federal Accountability System: Nancy Brownell, Senior Fellow, Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), California State Board of Education (SBE), will provide an update on the development of a new accountability system for California and facilitate a discussion regarding the inclusion of students with disabilities. (Item type: Information, discussion) 11:30 a.m. Noon Item 3 Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) through the Lens of Special Education: Barbara Murchison, ESSA California State Lead; and Theresa Costa Johansen, Administrator, Policy and Program Services Unit, Special Education Division (SED), California Department of Education (CDE), will provide an overview on the California ESSA specific to students with disabilities. The video focuses on the impact of bullying and the power of kindness. Lindsey will show her video, created for a Northern California Media Educator s contest, and discuss the overwhelming response to the message in the video. The Silent video may be viewed on the Folsom Cordova Unified School District's Facebook page.
