The Treaty Event: Multilateral Treaties on Terrorism Final Report: 16 November 21 at 9 PM During the General Assembly s General Debate, 79 States participated in the United Nations Treaty Event - Multilateral Treaties on Terrorism and undertook 18 treaty actions relating to 41 treaties. (11 Signatures and 7 ratifications/accessions and other actions). Participation in the Treaty Event 66 Heads of State and Government and Ministers of Foreign Affairs. The highest number of treaty actions during the Treaty Event related to the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism. The total number of actions it has received since the beginning of the event is 56 (48 signatures and 8 ratifications/accessions). The current level of participation is 119 signatories and 14 parties. This Convention will enter into force the day after the deposit of the 22 nd instrument of ratification with the Secretary-General of the United Nations. During the Event, the International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings received 15 ratifications/accessions. The current level of participation is 58 signatories and 45 parties. (It entered into force on 23 May 21) The International Convention against the Taking of Hostages received 5 ratifications/accessions. The current level of participation is 39 signatories and 12 parties. (It entered into force on 3 June 1983) The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, including Diplomatic Agents received 4 ratifications/accessions. The current level of participation is 25 signatories and 112 parties. (It entered into force on 2 February 1977) Actions undertaken during the Treaty Event relating to the following treaties will result in their entry into force: Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict; Agreement for the Implementation of the Provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1 December 1982 relating to the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks. The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court received 3 ratifications. The current level of participation is 139 signatories and 46 parties. It will enter into force following the deposit of the 6 th instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession with the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

A number of actions was undertaken with regard to human rights treaties as well: the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict (11 actions), the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography; the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (It needs three more ratifications to enter into force). In addition, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test Ban Treaty received 3 signatures and 4 ratifications.
