PMO- There should be no place for those who misuse religion for political motives and promote separatism. Jointly addressing media after delegation level talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Those who challenge unity and integrity of countries will not be tolerated. Terrorism and extremism are a threat to countries and it is important to come together to fight these elements.
- The National Security Advisor of India and the National Security and Intelligence Advisor of Canada reaffirmed the shared resolve of both India and Canada to combat terrorism and violent extremism in all their forms and manifestations. The two sides decided to work together to neutralize the threats emanating from terrorist groups such as Al Qaida, ISIS, the Haqqani Network, LeT, JeM, Babbar Khalsa International, and the International Sikh Youth Federation.
- India is in favour of strengthening its strategic partnership with Canada. Canada is an energy super power which can help in fulfilling India's ever increasing energy demands.
Canada Uranium-
- India and Canada signed six agreements in different fields including sports, education, science and technology. India-Canada economic partnership holds immense potential. Two countries should look at ways to enhance and diversify their bilateral trade.
PMO- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said there is a clear sign of change in the Indian economy and in the last three-four years, it has strengthened itself with the economic growth of the whole world. Addressing the ET Global Business Summit in New Delhi, Mr. Modi said, when the economy of India was discussed four years ago in the world, it was said Fragile Five. But now, the goal of India's Five Trillion Dollar Economy is being discussed. He said now, the world wants to run side by side with India.
Lokpal Appointment- The Government today told the Supreme Court that the process for appointing the anti-graft ombudsman Lokpal is going on. Attorney General K K Venugopal told a bench comprising Justices Ranjan Gogoi and R Banumathi that steps for appointing Lokpal have been taken and the selection panel, comprising the Prime Minister, Chief Justice of India, Speaker of Lok Sabha and leader of the largest opposition party, would hold a meeting on March 1 to discuss the issue. The bench posted the matter for further hearing on 6th March.
Defence Ministry- India today successfully test-fired the nuclear-capable surface-to-surface Dhanush ballistic missile with a strike range of 350 km from a naval ship off Odisha coast. The missile is capable of carrying a payload of 500kg. Single-stage Liquid-propelled
Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme- Launched the ambitious Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme in Chennai, on the birth anniversary of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. This is a welfare scheme of the AIADMK government of providing 50 per cent subsidy to working women to buy twowheelers. Under the scheme, over a lakh women can buy two wheeler with the state government's subsidy of fifty percent, subject to the ceiling of 25-thousand rupees. When a woman is empowered, her whole family is empowered.
PMO- Mr. Modi inaugurated various developmental projects worth 1000 crore rupees in Union territory of Daman and Diu. He launched the helicopter service between Daman and Diu. Mr Modi also launched Air Odisha flight service connecting Ahmedabad with Diu under UDAN Scheme. Helicopter service and air connectivity under UDAN have brought Daman and Diu in the mainstream of development.
- Connectivity will boost tourism in the union territory. The opportunities in tourism increase when there is cleanliness. Government's entire emphasis on the blue revolution is inspired by the commitment to bring a positive difference in the lives of fishermen.
- Mr. Modi will visit Puducherry tomorrow for the golden jubilee celebrations of Auroville. This is the first time that Prime Minister will be visiting Puducherry. He is scheduled to pay homage to Auroville's founder spiritual leader Sri Aurobindo. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with the people in India and abroad in his Mann Ki Baat programme
Finance Ministry- A group of state Finance Ministers headed by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi has recommended that Inter-state movement of goods should be on e-way bills from 1st of April this year. The e-way bill system will enable faster movement of goods through a seamless portal-driven payment system. E-way bill is an electronic way bill for movement of goods which can be generated on the GSTN (common portal). Movement of goods of more than 50 thousand rupees in value cannot be made by a registered person without an e- way bill.
MEA- The seventh meeting of Eminent Persons Group (EPG) on Nepal-India relations has begun in Kathmandu. Representatives from Nepal and India will deliberate up on various bilateral issues including 1950 Peace and Friendship treaty, trade, transit and border during two day meeting. According to one of the EPG members, preliminary draft of a report on security, water resources, trade and cultural ties between the two countries is being prepared. The EPG is a joint mechanism consisting experts and intellectuals from India and Nepal.
