Meet Our Speakers Jess Bailey is Managing Attorney of the Bailey Law Firm and focuses her practice on general business, real estate, and transactional law as well as finance-specific compliance and transactional matters. She holds a BS in Business Administration from University of St. Louis and a dual MS from Nova Southeastern University in Coastal Zone Management and Marine Environmental Science. She earned her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston. Julie Countiss is a 2002 University of Houston Law Center graduate and earned a B.A. in history from Southern Methodist University in 1993. In 2014, she was appointed by Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan as an Assistant County Attorney. She won election to the First District Court of Appeals in 2018. Dustin Fessler is a shareholder at Roberts Markel Weinberg Butler Hailey PC in the business, real estate, and general civil litigation sections of the firm. He is Board Certified in Consumer and Commercial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He earned his JD from Ave Maria School of Law and attended South Texas College of Law as a visiting student. He is licensed in Texas, New York, and New Jersey. Leigh Freeman is a graduate of the University of Denver College of Law, Order St. Ives. Shas has been practicing commercial and business law since 2003 representing clients in a wide-variety of fields including franchising, oilfield services, medical, IT, financial services and retail energy. She now focuses her practice on transactional matters. Sammy Ford, IV is an associate at AZA law. He earned his JD with Honors from UT School of Law, where he served as Development Editor of The Review of Litigation. He was named a 2017 and 2018 Top 100 Texas Up & Coming lawyer on the Texas Rising Stars list and received designation in the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers Association. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Chuck Newton practices primarily in the prosecution of automatic stay and discharge injunctions. He has represented thousands of consumers in all bankruptcy courts throughout the State of Texas and is also licensed to practice in all four federal judicial districts in Texas and before the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. Rachel V. Rose is a Houston-based attorney advising on federal and state compliance and areas of liability associated with a variety of healthcare, legal and regulatory issues including: HIPAA, the HITECH Act, the False Claims Act, Medicare issues, women's health as well as corporate and security regulations. She has been named in the National Women Trial Lawyers Association-Top 25, and listed in Houstonia Magazine's Top Lawyers in Healthcare Law for both 2018 and 2019. Cristina Rodriguez is Board Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Employed as an associate attorney with the Keeling Law Firm, she most recently presented for The University of Texas School of Law 14th Annual Consumer Bankruptcy Practice in 2018. Fred L. Shuchart is a shareholder in Cooper & Scully's Houston office and has received Texas Super Lawyer distinction since 2007. He has been rated a top lawyer in Insurance Law by American Lawyer Media and Martindale Hubbell and licensed to practice law in the States of Texas, Missouri and Illinois along with all Federal District Courts in Texas and the Federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. John Strohmeyer practices primarily in the areas of real estate, tax, estate planning and probate. He earned his JD from the University of Texas School of Law and his LLM from New York University School of Law. He is Board Certified in both Tax Law and Estate Planning & Probate.
