LEMONT TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 210 BOARD OF EDUCATION February 19, 2019 The of Lemont Township High School District 210, Cook and DuPage Counties, Illinois, met for its regular meeting in the Board Room on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. Call to Order President Driscoll called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll Call The following members were present: Tally, Koehler, Gray, Marzec, Shackel, and Driscoll Absent: Kardas Commencement of Closed Session It was moved by Member Shackel, seconded by Member Tally, that the Board of Education move into Closed Session for the purpose of: Personnel appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine validity. However, a meeting to consider an increase in compensation to a specific employee of a public body that is subject to the Local Government Wage Increase Transparency Act may not be closed and shall be open to the public and posted in accordance with this Act. (5ILCS120/2(c)(1)) Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representative, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. Aye: Gray, Koehler, Kardas, Marzec, Tally, Shackel, and Driscoll Whereupon the President declared the motion duly carried and the Board of Education concluded its Closed Session at 6:56 p.m. The meeting recessed at 7:00 p.m. Roll Call Public Hearing on Drivers Education Waiver The following members were present: Kardas, Gray, Marzec, Tally, Koehler, Shackel, and Driscoll Public Hearing on Drivers Education Waiver Ken Parchem, Chief School Business Official, reviewed the Drivers Education Waiver with the. Public Notices were presented. There were no comments from the Board or the Public. President Driscoll adjourned the public hearing at 7:05 p.m. The Board Meeting reconvened at 7:05 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance Awards and Recognitions Tony Hamilton, Director of School & Community Relations, recognized Megan Zhou, 2019 Illinois Music Educators Association All-State Band (Tenor Saxophone). Mr. Hamilton highlighted her accomplishments. Joey Rostis, Kelli Crispo, Delaney Dewalls, and Lydia Daley were recognized as Student of the Month recipients for the month of January 2019. Lemont businessman, Brad Grcevic of Edward Jones Inc., on behalf of the January Students of the Month, will make a donation to St. Jude Children s Hospital. Natalia Ciesla, Brendan Neale, Tygar TeSelle, and James Tauer were recognized as Student of the Month recipients for the month of February 2019.

Lemont businessman, Brad Grcevic of Edward Jones Inc., on behalf of the February Students of the Month, will make a donation to #Ellie Strong. Mr. Michaelsen, Principal recognized Social Worker Kelsey Pellus, a nominee for Lifechanger of the Year. He recognized Scott Duensing, Exemplary CTE Teacher, ILCTE Innovative Curriculum Resources Project. Mr. Michaelsen recognized the Cheerleading team Qualifier for the 2019 IHSA Medium Division Cheerleading State Finals. He highlighted their season. Students and Coach Dave Erlenbaugh introduced themselves. Representing the, Board Member Shackel addressed the students, Kelsey Pellus, and Scott Duensing congratulating them on their accomplishments. The meeting recessed at 7:27 p.m. and reconvened at 7:39 p.m. Presentations The Career and Technical Education Department highlighted the use of educational technology. English Department Chair Mark Cannon, Angie Duensing and Phil Lazzari, along with students Nour Longi, Michael Haughey, Abby Ascolani, Cameron Nagel, Jordyn Smith, and Lea Gaetto shared with the Board how they use technology in the English Department. Public Comment None Building Administration Reports Eric Michaelsen, Principal, reported on freshman course selection and the recent School Improvement Day activities. Ken Parchem, Chief School Business Official, submitted the financial reports as of January 31, 2019 and reported on the National School Lunch Audit. Dr. Ticknor, Superintendent, reported on the AASA Conference she attended and gave a legislative update. Action Consideration #18-42: Approved the estimated travel expense of $1,279.93 for Beverly Marzec associated with the NAFIS Spring Conference, as recommended by the Superintendent. Action Consideration #18-43: Authorized the payment of any bills received after March 6 and prior to March 13, as recommended by the Superintendent. Action Consideration #18-44: Approved the application for the Drivers Education Waiver, as recommended by the Superintendent. Action Consideration #18-45: Accepted a donation of $6,900 from the Lemont Bears to cover the cost of reconditioning the wrestling mats, as recommended by the Superintendent. UNPAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE: Monica Johnson, first and second semester of the 2019-2020 school year. EXTRA-CURRICULAR: 1. RESIGNATION: Sydney Bozich, Group Interpretation Sponsor, effective December 11, 2018. 2. STIPEND CORRECTION: Brett Baleskie, Fall Play Set Construction, 1.0 FTE, Step 9, was paid $1,890.24 and Winter Play Set Construction, 1.0 FTE, Step 9, was paid $1,890.24 for the 2018-2019 school year. Should have been paid $2,520.32 for Fall Play Set Construction and $2,520.32 for Winter Play Set Construction. 3.
