A word from the Director Winter is about over, or at least the calendar says so. I m thinking this last cold spell, with temperatures at or below zero overnight, is just a last gasp. I m tired of hibernating. The bike is ready. I m ready. Come on Spring! Our first Chapter meeting of the year on February 14 th was well attended with 15 members present. We discussed the chili cook-off and Chapter bake sale, which will be Saturday, March 14 th at 11:00 AM. Please have your chili and baked goods there by 10:30 AM. It is helpful if you label your chili as mild, medium or hot. Please have your baked goods packaged for sale if possible. I will have plastic wrap on site for anyone that needs it. The proceeds from this year s chili cook-off will go to area fire departments. The proceeds from the bake sale help fund Chapter expenses such as prizes for the mileage contest or the Christmas party. The March Chapter meeting will be the same day as the cook-off at 1:00 PM at the Dealership conference room. The ride schedule has a few rides on it already. Please be thinking of destinations we can ride to this year. The first official ride is always the Camp Courageous ride near the end of April. Some years we get to ride it and some years the weather doesn t cooperate. There are two May rides on the calendar already. The Membership Ride on the 17 th and the Jim & Linda Memorial Ride on the 31 st. Destinations for those are still being determined. June already has two non-chapter rides; the Ride for Life on June 6 th and the Hospice Ride on the following weekend. These two rides are not Chapter rides but they are for good causes and we have always encouraged our members to participate. We try not to schedule competing events on those days. I m sure there will be posters in the newsletter as we get closer to these rides. Don t forget to turn your starting mileage in to Daryl for the mileage contest. If you didn t join us for a Chapter ride last year, you missed a good time. The fellowship among our members is fantastic. Plus, our rides always end with a meal and your stomach will thank you. Put it on your list of things to do this year. No more news, so have an awesome day and always remember: Money will buy a fine dog. But only kindness will make him wag his tail. Happy Riding, Steve Trumblee, Chapter Director smtrumblee@neitel.net 563-536-2848
