Do not include matter being eliminated and do not use italics or underlining to indicate new matter. id County City of Chenango Town Village Local Law No. 1 of the year 20 2016 A local law To Amend Local Law No. 5 of 1998 "A County Local Law to Establish a (Insert Title) Department of Public Works, and to Merge Therein the Highway Department and the Department of Waste Management" Board of Supervisors Be it enacted by the of County City of Chenango Town Village (Name of Legislative Body) the as follows: STATE OF NEW YORK COUNTY OF CHENANGO ADOPTED LOCAL LAW NO. 1 OF 2016 A LOCAL LAW TO AMEND LOCAL LAW NO. 5 OF 1998 "A COUNTY LOCAL LAW TO ESTABLISH A DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, AND TO MERGE THEREIN THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT AND THE DEPARTMENT OF WASTE MANAGEMENT" BE IT ENACTED, by the Chenango County Board of Supervisors as follows: Section 4 of Local Law No. 5 of 1998 is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 4. Deputy Director of Public Works. (a) There is hereby created and established an office of First Deputy Director of Public Works, and Second Deputy Director of Public Works, both of which shall be in the exempt class of the civil service. (b) The First and Second Deputy Directors of Public Works shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the County Director of Public Works and possess the qualifications as the County Director of Public Works shall prescribe. (c) The First and Second Deputy Directors of Public Works shall perform those duties assigned by the County Director of Public Works and in the event of a vacancy in the office or the absence or inability of the County Director of Public Works, shall possess the powers and perform the duties of the County Director of Public Works. (d) The Director of Public Works shall, pursuant to County Law 401(2), designate in writing the order in which his or her deputies are to serve during the Director of Public Works' absence or inability to act or vacancy in office. (e) Nothing contained herein is intended to require that there be more than one Deputy Director at one time.
