Page 74 Communications to the Niles City Board of Education Written Communications--None Public Comments Johnathan White, Shadow Ridge Dr., Niles, Ohio, suggested that the audience give a vote of confidence to the Board of Education. Mr. White also asked that the public not attack the new Superintendent, Mark Robinson. He then asked for an explanation of how the Superintendent can accumulate 400 sick leave days. Marlene Rhodes addressed his question and said that is well within the realm of the law. Sam Ragozine, 1032 Holtz St., Niles, Ohio asked if Mr. Robinson s status is hired or retired and rehired. He wanted to know why it was necessary to hire a firm (O.S.B.A.) to find this guy (Mark Robinson). He also wanted to know how the district can afford to pay Mr. Robinson s new contract, when he (Sam) was not allowed to buy paint for the bathroom of the stadium. Marlene Rhodes addressed his questions. Sam reiterated, How do we do all this when we are always broke? The audience applauded. Tony Perrone addressed Sam Ragozine. Mr. Perrone referred to the letter in the Niles Times, and proceeded to read the letter. Mike Guarneri, 1860 Robin Court, Niles, Ohio, said that there is no doubt that the Board of Education needed to hire a Superintendent to run the school district, but, he pointed out that the new Superintendent has no blood line connections to the community, and that there is no money. He accused the Board of Education of turning their backs on the employees. He wanted to know how, as a Board of Education, they can justify paying the new Superintendent substantially more than the previous Superintendent, while saying no to the teachers. Mr. Perrone tried to respond with the assistance of Mr. Limongi. Fawnda Barker, 1868 Robin Court, Niles, Ohio, read a prepared written statement. (Minute File 11-79) Marlene Rhodes explained about her Facebook page and how it relates to Senate Bill 5. Mr. Limongi informed the audience that the Board had previously talked to Mr. Adduci asking for suggestions for cost saving factors. Mr. Limongi also added that the Board had no direction for the district. Debbie Anderson, 2118 Robbins Ave., Apt. 509, Niles, Ohio, said that the Board knew for the last three (3) years that something like this was going to happen! Why didn t they prepare. Vicki Raptis, 521 Hazel Ave., Girard, Ohio, said that it was disheartening to see this gentleman, from outside the area, come into the school district and make that amount of money, when there is no money for the teachers. Ron Puckett, 18 George St., Niles, Ohio, wondered why the Board of Education hasn t learned any lessons from the auto industry. They hired those expensive C.E.O. s and then the taxpayers ended up bailing the auto companies out. Trisha Smith, the parent of a student, Niles, Ohio, wanted to pay tribute to the teachers. She also stated that her children have had three (3) Superintendents in the past four (4) years.
