Hsieh is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Singapore Management University School of Law. He holds Juris Doctor and LL.M. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a Senior Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. Prior to joining academia, he served as a Legal Affairs Officer at the Appellate Body Secretariat of the World Trade Organization and as an associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP. He has been the Managing Editor of the Chinese (Taiwan) Yearbook of International Law and Affairs since 2006. Hsieh s research focuses on international economic law, international law and East Asian legal studies. He is particularly interested in the roles of China and ASEAN in international law and cross-taiwan Strait relations, and has published articles in the Michigan Journal of International Law, the Journal of World Trade and the Journal of International Economic Law. His works have been cited by the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland as well as in leading texts on international law such as Max Plank Encyclopedia of Public International Law and International Law: Cases and Materials with Australian Perspectives (Cambridge University Press). He was awarded Singapore s Lee Foundation Fellowship for Research Excellence in 2010 and was the co-organizer of the International Law Association Asia-Pacific Regional Conference in 2011.
