Treasurer Report Cynthia Phillips

Legislative Committee Report Scott Denton HB 2265 School Bus Exemption from Duplicate inspection Upcoming Term Contract for ULSD DPI has asked P&C to change language that would allow for LEA s s to get a price per gallon at time the order is placed. DPI is asking NCPTA to support their position Meeting occurred July 18, 2008 at P&C. Binford & Scott attended from NCPTA in addition to Derek Graham and Craig Warren from DPI. It was learned that E-E Procurement tied to state contract is 1.75% of per gallon price. With LEA s s only receiving $3.23 per gallon for fuel and current market prices being more it is critical that fuel be obtained at the best price. e. Recommendation: NCPTA advisory council task the TAC to make this a major project for this year. In addition the NCPTA Advisory Council submit s a resolution supporting the elimination of E-Procurement E in regards to the diesel fuel contract to NCASA. Legislation on tire contracts Seat Belt Legislation Action Item Taken: Approved as recommended above

TAC Committee Report Leonard Campbell

Recognitions Committee Report Cindy Carlisle NCASA has decided not to offer the Trailblazer awards at their 20092 conference. Recognitions committee is working on an alternative to keep this award going. Service Pins presentation and support have been issues at past conferences. New plan is being worked on to prevent this at the 2009 conference. Work with Hall of Fame committee to focus that and other awards for NCPTA members being presented at one focused time each year at the conference. Spotlight being on award winners from all categories. Working to incorporate HydroTex scholarship with the Technician s Certification. This will be a joint effort with the Training Committee.

Hall of Fame Committee Report Harold Laflin Submissions for Hall of Fame has been submitted in January of each year. This year submissions will be sent to LEA s before the holiday season. Every year we may not have a Hall of Fame recipient.

Nominations Committee Report Jerry Wynne Committee reviewed extending terms to two years for each state officer position. At this time no change is proposed. Committee reviewed by-laws in nominating process. Each committee member will select two applicants for the 2009-2010 2010 Secretary. The committee as a whole will then select one to two names to bring to the Advisory Council for a vote.

Training Committee Dennis Wood

Training Committee Online survey was open to all members of NCPTA last month for two weeks. 195 people responded to the whole survey. Survey targeted member satisfaction in training received by job groupings from NCPTA, DPI, ITRE/UNCC, and LEA s. Survey asked respondents how they want to receive training in the future.

Training Committee Survey Results summary Membership desires better training products from all sources. Both technicians and office personnel want training to be provided throughout the year regionally. Both groups prefer hands on and in depth approaches. The majority of technicians want to see a certification program implemented for training received.

Conference Committee Report Binford Sloan Conference Committee met yesterday Revised Conference Coordinator contract was approved in committee. Now awaits final vote by Advisory Council. Preliminary conference agenda was laid out. Meeting with hotel staff offered insight with resort and how we can use it. Some members attending NAPT next month will review keynote speakers. Committee will meet again November 18, 2008 at a location TBD. Action Item Taken: Approved Conference Coordinator contract as presented.

Golf Tournament 1. Golf Tournament Advisory Council asked for more information on golf tournament to determine how to incorporate into future conferences. Tournament from 2008 conference cost the association $0. Conference committee is reviewing to incorporate golf tournament in future conferences. Will present findings to advisory council.

Web Site Survey In August an online survey was submitted for members to provide input on the NCPTA website. 156 people responded to the survey. Survey was reflected site design, content, updates, and online discussion boards.

Web Site Survey Results show majority of people are currently satisfied with the website. Most respondents desire an online discussion board(s) where they can exchange ideas. Respondents also want a password protected area where additional items for members can be stored. Example web based training courses.

Web Site Toni Floyd is the current web master. She uses Front Page which isn t t as advanced as Dream Weaver for designing web pages. She isn t t sure her LEA will give her access to Dream Weaver. Not knowing the amount of time it would require to maintain a site similar to what members would like Toni can t t commit to continue without compensation and or software needed.

Various State Association Web Sites Virginia http://www.vapt.org Georgia http://www.gaptonline.org New York http://www.nyapt.org Michigan http://www.mapt.org Action Taken: Keep current design of the NCPTA website to reflect members desires. District Directors will encourage members in their areas to submit ideas and information. Each committee will start using their webpage to keep people involved.

Items from Advisory Council Members Harold Laflin submitted a request that NCPTA provide flowers to a family who loses a loved one that is an active NCPTA member. Action Item Taken: Advisory Council approved to reimburse the LEA of an active member up to $50 for flowers or a memorial contribution.

Next Advisory Council Meeting Select Date and Location. Traditionally spring meeting is held at Tymposium. Does group want to meet before that time? Action Item Taken: Advisory Council Meeting is scheduled for January 15, 2009 at a location TBD.
