A. Project Area of Activities in Albania Albania and Project Area

Information on the project area Basic data Registered population more than 350,000 Migrant population app. 55% In southern areas estimated annual income from resources USD 100 per household In southern areas estimated annual flow from remittances USD 200 Labour force 60% and a high percentage of the local labour force employed abroad Small scale trade, agricultural activities and familiar tourism but is based exclusively in Albanian visitors Poverty level even higher income level comparing with other areas of Albania Areas very rich with fauna and flora habitat and diversity of fish species and other marine organism and wonderful landscape and more than 200 registered cultural monuments.

Other comments on the area 1. Presence of rural and semi-cultural communities facing decline, ageing population and abandonment; 2. Low income and dependence of income and employment on remittance from abroad; 3. Tendencies for community disintegration; 4. Very few organized groups and lack of specialization and as a result not appropriate use of the natural resources which will not help to build sustainable economic development models.

Activities OF Albanian Universities in SIOI: ANALYSIS OF THE REMITTANCE SYSTEM ; TRAINING AND INFORMATION COURSES; ESTABLISHMENT OF A FORMAL TWINNING BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY OF POLITECHNIC OF MARKE AND UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGIC ISMAIL QEMALI VLORE FOR EXCHANGE PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS; CREATION OF A DATABASE FOR YOUNG EXPERTS IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY; SET UP OF 2 TRAINING CENTRES IN TIRANA AND VLORA FOR POTENTIAL MIGRANTS

Cont d:analysis OF THE REMITTANCE SYSTEM THROUGH; 1. On-site survey; e.g. questionnaires for the analysis in Albania on the use of the remittances; and 2. Verification of the role of remittances and the map of the productive investment initiatives; e.g. the we will take the data from a specific area: from the tourist boom during the years of strong immigration, especially clandestine, to Italy, to the entrepreneur vocation of the inhabitants, and the still high percentage of immigrants despite an improvement of the economical conditions of the area.

FORMAL TWINNING BETWEEN THE POLITECHNIC UNIVERSITY OF MARKE AND UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGIC OF ISMAIL QEMALI VLORE. 1. Training of young researchers and students from the University of Valona in the laboratories and departments of the Polytechnic University of the Marche. 2. Training young researchers and students from the Polytechnic university of Marche at the laboratories and departments of the University of Vlora.

Contact with regions and local authorities of the areas of destination of immigrants.
