OFFICIAL MINUTES The Board of Education met in Regular Session on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 6:13 p.m., in the Irving G. Breyer Board Meeting Room, 555 Franklin Street, San Francisco, California. Presiding: Norman Yee, President. PRESENT: Commissioners Ms. Sandra Lee Fewer, Ms. Kim-Shree Maufas (joined the meeting at 6:18 p.m.), Ms. Hydra B. Mendoza (joined the meeting at 6:16 p.m.) Dr. Emily M. Murase, Ms. Rachel Norton, Ms. Jill Wynns, and Mr. Norman Yee ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Carlos A. The Five-Year Plan Recommended for SFUSD Student Nutrition Services as supported by the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks was presented by Nancy Waymack, Executive Director, Policy and Operations, and Ed Wilkins, Director, Student Nutrition Services. With items corrected and item severed, the Consent Calendar was adopted unanimously with the exception of Resolutions 125-22K3, K4, K5, K6, and K7 which received 6 ayes, l nay (Mendoza). Consent Calendar Resolutions Severed for Board Discussion and Immediate Action 4b. 125-22K10 Commissioner Norton moved that the first paragraph and first two words of the second paragraph in the Description section of K10 be deleted. The motion was seconded and unanimously adopted. 125-22K10 was adopted, as amended, by 6 ayes, l nay (Wynns). Board Members Proposals First Reading 125-22A2 Dan Ryan Art Room at Dianne Feinstein Elementary School at the Parkside Campus - Commissioners Norman Yee and Emily M. Murase Commissioner Norton moved suspension of the rules to Resolution 125-22A2 (Motion 125-22A3). The motion was seconded and adopted unanimously. Resolution 125-22A2 was formally moved by Commissioner Norton, seconded, and unanimously adopted. Public speaker: Michelle Chang, Principal, Dianne Feinstein ES. Report of Closed Session Actions Closed Session Actions of May 15, 2012 which were previously read out at the Special Meeting of May 15, 2012 and repeated at this meeting. The Board, by a vote of 7 ayes approved the contracts for: 5 Principals 1 Assistant Principal 1 Director 1 Senior Executive Director 6

Report of Closed Session Actions - Closed Session Actions of May 15, 2012 which were previously read out at the Special Meeting of May 15, 2012 and repeated at this meeting - continued The Board, by a vote of 6 ayes and 1 absent (Maufas) approved the contract for 1 Assistant Principal. In an existing litigation matter, SB v SFUSD (OAH Case No. 2012040622) the Board by a vote of 7 ayes authorized a settlement of $30,506 plus transportation costs. In an existing litigation matter, SH v SFUSD (unassigned), the Board by a vote of 7 ayes authorized a settlement of $15,000. Closed Session Actions of May 22, 2012 new actions read-out 125-22A4 RESOLVED: The Board of Education, by a vote of 5 ayes and 2 absent (Maufas, Mendoza) approved the contract for one assistant principal. 125-22A5 RESOLVED: In an existing litigation matter, GW v SFUSD (OAH Case No. 2012030858) the Board of Education by a vote of 5 ayes and 2 absent (Maufas, Mendoza) authorized a settlement of a maximum sum of $1,560 to add 30 minutes per month of adaptive physical education consultation time to the student s IEP, and to provide two thirty minute sessions of occupational therapy per month. 125-22A6 RESOLVED: In an existing litigation matter, GL v SFUSD (unassigned), the Board by a vote of 5 ayes and 2 absent (Maufas, Mendoza) authorized a settlement of $3,102.70. 7
