It's September, and we are back in session and ready to go for a year of exciting new activities and programs. It all starts on Tuesday, September 20th, and you are invited to join us at the Radisson Resort at the Port for food, friends, fun, and a stimulating talk by Ronnie Lawson/NASA Deputy Director of Exploration Research and Technology on ISS Activities linked to the research and technology programs underway at KSC. You can sign up for the luncheon online HERE, or contact Bev Merrilees at 321 452 5426 or bmerrilees@cfl.rr.com. The deadline to register is noon on Friday, Sept. 16th. We look forward to a day with friends and colleagues, and we hope to see you there. Since our last newsletter there have been several activities we wanted to share. Please take the time to read the articles in this edition. If you have questions or need additional information, please give me a call at 321 267 4860 or email me at alkoller@gmail.com Dr. Al Koller, President

Frank Bryan Publicity: Bill Riddle Webmaster: Al Koller JOIN US NOW! News from the Membership Chair David Schechter Each July we start a new membership year, and we now have 114 members. To be included for this year's badge we need your renewal now. If you are not already a member and are a former employee of NACA, NASA, JPL, or were detailed from any federal agency to NASA, you qualify. Just CLICK HERE and complete an NALFL application. You can file it online or mail a completed form to NALFL, P. O. Box 423, Titusville, FL 32781. SPACE WEEK From Mark Jager A Word From Our Treasurer As the current Treasurer for our Club, may I please ask a small favor from all our Members who write checks for any monies to the NALFL? To assist in accounting of the income to our Chapter, would you please specify the "reason" for the amounts in the lower left line of the checks? Also, for multiple amounts combined into a single payment, please state the amounts for each of the "reasons" so I know how the monies should be assigned. Otherwise I have to determine if the total amount is a multiple of $17 (for lunches) or $30 (for memberships) and must guess your intent. HELP! Thank you for your assistance, Wayne Owens, Treasurer/NALFL Super Programs Are On Tap This Fall From Roselle Hanson, Program Chair We know how important it is to provide programs with good speakers and interesting content. This fall speakers will inform the NAL members about research and technology development activities ongoing at KSC and the new ground systems being developed at KSC for Orion and the Space Launch System. We will also hear about the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, and enjoy a holiday luncheon in December at the Debus Center. Early in the new year, we will learn about the small satellite initiative led by KSC's Launch Services Program. Additional speakers rounding out the year include SpaceX and others still to be determined. We enjoy hearing feedback, so let us know what you think.

and Adrian Laffitte Spaceport Magazine, September 2016 View the Sept. 2016 issue : This year we have renamed the program to Space Week Inspiring the Next Generation of Explorers, which now includes two major components. The first is the school visits to KSC, which this year will take place on November 14, 15, 17, 18, 21, 22, 29, and December 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, and 9. The second features former KSC Director Jim Kennedy visiting area classrooms, an activity sponsored by Delaware North/KSCVC. Contributions can be made online at www.nscfl.org. Check out the September issue of NASA's Kennedy Space CenterSpaceport Magazine. Learn more about preparations for the OSIRIS REx launch and more! Editor's note: Spaceport Magazine is hosted on a third party website to take advantage of crossplatform sharing functions and improved visual mechanics. Please be cognizant of what you download. The magazine team is interested in your feedback and ideas for content. Email them at kscspaceportmagazine@mail.nasa.gov. POC: Frank Ochoa Gonzales, Frank.Ochoa Gonzales@nasa.gov If you worked at KSC or CCAFS, this one's for you! This site is intended to be a living tribute to those many thousands of American space workers who have made American space flight possible. It is dedicated to all the engineers, scientists,

technicians, administrators, secretaries, planners, schedulers, janitors and everyone else who came to work every day to get the job done. If you know someone who worked in the Space program and should be included, please visit http://hall.spacewalk offame.org/ and have their name added. If you have a child or grandchild who is interested in space related activities, the new STEAM Saturdays program at SWOF is worth your consideration.
