Priority Promoting effectiveness of Institutional mechanisms for accelerating de facto gender equality De facto gender equality is a crucial element of democracy and a prerequisite for the full enjoyment of human rights, for economic growth and for competitiveness.

Council Conclusions The Effectiveness of Institutional Mechanisms for the Advancement of Women and Gender Equality Review of the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action

Council Conclusions Concrete actions to be taken by the Member States: Gender equality institutional mechanisms located at highest possible level; sufficient personal resources, clearly defined mandates and relevant powers and resources to fulfil the mandate; existence and usage of easily applicable tools and methods for gender mainstreaming; coordination of activities, synergies of efforts, involvement of social partners; awareness raising and strengthened knowledge in gender equality and gender mainstreaming.
