Detroit Lakes City Chambers The Regular Meeting of the Board of Education held on Monday, February 12, 2018, was called to order at 6:30 P.M. by Board Chair Langworthy. Freshman Seminar Teachers Mike Labine and Aaron Swenson, and Science Teacher Steve Fode updated the Board on the progress of the Freshman Academy, detailing the five Essential Learner Outcomes: Academic Successes; Interpersonal Skills; Career Exploration; School/Civic Involvement; Technology. They are seeing an increase in academic achievement, student attendance, involvement of each student along with a supporting relationship with their parent/guardian. Integrating technology into the classroom has changed the way they teach and gives the students an upper hand in prepare for a career after high school.
