Township of River Vale County of Bergen State of New Jersey ORDINANCE #325-2017 Date of 1 st Reading: May 8, 2017 Date of Public Hearing: Motion to Introduce: Motion Seconded: AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF RIVER VALE, COUNTY OF BERGEN NEW JERSEY TO AMEND CHAPTER 21 OF THE TOWNSHIP CODE ENTITLED, HEALTH, BOARD OF, TO SET THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF BOARD OF HEALTH MEMBERS AND ALTER THE INITIAL TERMS OF APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO THE BOARD OF HEALTH WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 26-3-3 provides that a Municipality s Board of Health shall be composed of not less than five nor more than seven members; and WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 26:3-6 provides that the terms of not more than three members of a Municipality s Board of Health shall expire in any one year; BE IT ORDAINED by the Township Council of the Township of River Vale that 21-2(A) is amended as follows: A. Within the Division of Health Services, there shall be an Advisory Health Board, which shall be composed of no less than five and no more than seven members appointed by the Mayor. The members shall serve for staggered terms of four years from the date of their appointment, except that, at the time of their appointment, three shall be appointed for a term of one year, two for a term of two years, one for a term of three years and one for a term of four years. All members shall serve without compensation. This Ordinance shall take effect following adoption and approval in a time and manner prescribed by law. 9
