Regional programmes in the cultural sector Euromed Heritage Based on the objectives defined in the Strategy for the Development of Euro- Mediterranean Heritage: priorities from Mediterranean Countries (2007-2013), it focuses on the appropriation by the local populations of their cultural heritage and favours access to education and knowledge of cultural heritage Since 1998 the Euromed Heritage regional programme has committed a total of 57 million euros to fund partnerships between conservation experts and heritage institutions from the countries of the Mediterranean region. Almost 400 partners from the Member States of the European Union and partners countries have benefited from the Programme during its four phases Euromed audiovisual support for the of cinematographic and audiovisual capacity in the Partner Countries. It promotes complementarity and integration of the region s film and audiovisual industries, while seeking to harmonise public sector policy and legislation actions on audiovisual archives and media litteracy

Cross border cooperation (CBC Med) The general objective of this Programme is to contribute to promoting the sustainable and harmonious cooperation process at the Mediterranean Basin level by dealing with the common challenges and enhancing its endogenous potential. Current on going projects in the Heritage sector: Cultural and Archaeological heritage in the Mediterranean Basin (ArcheoMed) Promoting socio-economic sustainable through innovative technological actions for Mediterranean tourism-heritage and landscapes protection clusters (HELAND) Mediterranean Route for Tourism and Culture (MED-ROUTE) Supporting and connecting rural women s traditional know how in the Mediterranean through the promotion of fair trade products (RUWOMED) Histoires de retours et d exodes (NOSTOI) Mediterranean network for the valorization and fruition of inscriptions preserved in museums (MEDINA) New Performances for Mediterranean Tourism (NEWPER)

4- Bilateral cooperation Algeria: Support programme for the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage in Algeria ( 21.5 million) This programme supports priority actions for heritage identification through the creation of site inventories in twelve pilot Wilayas (administrative provinces). It will use tools for the protection and of cultural heritage, notably by restoring three historical heritage sites. Through an inclusive approach, the project aims to develop employment opportunities for unskilled young people, especially through apprenticeships and on-site learning projects Twinning in Jordan: Strengthen the institutional tourism system by enhancing the capacities of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities

On-going calls Global call for proposals 22.2 million for Supporting culture as a vector of democracy and economic growth under Investing in People programme. (EuropeAid/133529/C/ACT/Multi) Lot 1: Encourage cultural expressions which promote diversity, intercultural dialogue and human and cultural rights, in the context of reconciliation, conflict resolution and democratisation. Lot 2: Strengthen capacities of cultural actors for the of a dynamic cultural sector contributing to economic growth and sustainable. The EU/UNESCO Expert Facility Programme in order to strengthen the governance for culture in developing countries.
