FROM THE BRIDGE JULIE NOBLE, COMMODORE Well, I don't know about everyone else, but spring can get here any time now. The weather has been typical for our region but I prefer warmth (without the humidity would be nice but we can't have everything). Tom Stokes, Holly Murray and I attended the GYA Winter Meeting in Fairhope, Alabama recently. One of the main issues was the selection of a new boat, the Viper 640, that is to replace the Flying Scot beginning 2018. There will be more discussion on the means by which we will be purchasing this boat and I'm thinking we will want to have some fund raisers to help with this expense. We welcome any and all suggestions you might have. I want to thank everyone who entered our Chili Cookoff and to all who came to taste, enjoy and be the judges. Congratulations to Dana Burke for being this year's winner. They all were delicious. We have a busy month coming up in February. We will be open for SuperBowl Sunday on the 7 th. A wonderful Valentine's Day Dinner is planned for Saturday the 13 th and the Commodore's Ball will be held on Saturday the 20 th. The ball should be a lot of fun so hope you all can make it as well as the other events. Please be sure to check the calendar and newsletter for upcoming events. Also, look for flyers and reminders that might be on our website, sent to you via email or on the tables at the club, and, as always, see you at your club! HOUSE COMMITTEE DANA BURKE We have a few big events going on in February, so mark your calendars. We will be open at 4:00 on Sunday evening for the Super Bowl - the 7 th. Please bring a dish to share and come enjoy the game with your friends. We will be having a Valentine's Dinner on Saturday, the 13 th. Reservations are required by Tuesday the 9 th, so give me a call to make yours - 228-864-9300. The Commodore's Ball will be on Saturday, the 20 th. Make plans to be there for a fun filled evening. Our drink of the month will be "Fuzzy Navel" - Peachtree Schnapps & orange juice. I am always looking for volunteers to make a dessert for Thursday's "" and for someone to be willing to make and serve a meal on Friday nights. Just give me a call or talk to me at the club and I will sign you up. If you have a suggestion for a meal on Fridays, let me know what you would like and I will take it into consideration. Friday Night Bell Ringer Missed opportunities in January. It was a golden opportunity for Don Rayner, Stanley Snodgrass, Viloet Riley, and Bryan Eichorn to collect their $250 bar tab had they been at the yacht club when their name was randomly drawn. It all happens on Friday night between the hours of 7:00 and 8:30. Be sure to come early to enjoy happy hour between 4 and 7 and you can even partake in an inexpensive light meal while there.
