Introduction Looking forward to the grand tour for five years, we could finally enjoy the trip in Seoul, South Korea. The trip was from 26 to 29 March 2015. In the light of broadening our horizons and having a spectacular experience to stand out from the crowd, chance of participating in the grand tour is given to us. Travelling outside Hong Kong is far more desirable than searching information online only. Brushing sightseeing in the trip aside, team spirit, self-discipline and experience of cultural are the objectives that we wanted to achieve.

Hongdae Spot Description: The first place we visited was Hongdae. The area is full of design shops, boutiques, bars, restaurants for people who would like to relax. There were always k-pop songs playing around each store to please our ears. We listened to different songs as we walked along the street. Another factors that made us slow our step were the street food there. We have never tasted Korea's street food in Hong Kong. Reflection: Hongdae gave us a feeling just like the Korea version of Mongkok but Hongdae is definitely bigger when compared with the area of Mongkok. However the main difference is that Hongdae has more unique boutiques than in Hong Kong. All the shops we can see in Hong Kong are the big brand shops, pharmacy and shopping malls, nothing special. It is hoped that the Hong Kong government can provide more opportunities for people who want to start their own business in Hong Kong. Rather than just letting those pharmacy and shopping malls become the bigger trend in Hong Kong. Overall speaking, we had an enjoyable time in Hongdae. This place gave us the experience the culture and the atmosphere of Korea.

Gwangnaru Safety Experience Center Spot Description: Because of fire accidents in 1999, which occurred in Gyungi-do, the necessity of establishing a disaster training center for common citizens, Gwangnaru Safety Experience Center, was urgently considered. Gwangnaru Safety Experience Center is a place that enables people to experience different kinds of disasters; mimicking of earthquake, windstorm and fire are also included in the center. Reflection: With the directions from the guides there, we learnt how to survive and protect ourselves during an earthquake. All of us thought that the guides was very cordial, he never refused to communicate with us. It was easier for us to understand the procedures as the guides could speak in Chinese. We were very concentrated in what he was saying and showing about the rescue tools under different situations of disasters. What is more, we found it novel to undergo a mimic experience of earthquake in a room, the vibrations made most of us yell, but it is still memorable for us. In Hong Kong, it is unlikely to have earthquake as Hong Kong is not located along the boundaries of crustal plates, so such a feeling from the vibrations may be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us. Actually, we are very lucky to be able to live in Hong Kong since no earthquake will occur here, we must learn to treasure. Because of the limited time, we could not experience other disaster in the center, but we

never felt frustrated. We hoped that we would have chances to come here again to explore more new knowledge about disasters. Myeong-dong and Sinchon : Seoul in Korea is a famous shopping paradise in Asia. With the favorable location and the transportation factors Myeong-dong and Sinchon are the famous primary shopping districts in Seoul. Many tourists from the world look for fashion items and cosmetics in Myeong-dong and Sinchon. Not only can the citizens find the well-known international brands and department stores, but also different kinds of traditional and fashion small store that selling good product with reasonable price. No doubt, shopping in Myeong-dong and Sinchon does give a unique and unforgettable experience to the tourists. Reflection: During the trip, one of our tour guides sayings impressed me that the percentage of foreign tourists especially the Chinese visitors visiting Myeong-dong and Sinchon are much more than the percentage of locals. This phenomenon proved that the Korean government has a great success in tourism industries. Although Hong Kong is also called the shopping paradise in Asia, the number of visitors visiting Hong Kong is decreasing recently. Hong Kong government should have a look towards the tourism industries in Korea for the sake of staying the self-competiveness. Overall the trip in Myeong-dong and Sinchon, every shop is changing to fulfill the demand from the customers. Many salespersons are speaking fluent mandarin and English or selling different kinds of product. These are the key to success on the tourism industries in Korea.

Folk Village Spot Description: On the second day, we were glad that we could visit the Korean Folk Village, which is a large experiencing site for both locals and tourists. There are many magnificent traditional Korean houses and a typical village of the Jesoen Dynasty. Besides, the performances from performers wearing traditional Korean dresses playing music instruments and dancing were not something to be taken lightly. After having sightseeing in the village, we had a chance to taste a traditional dish, Bibimbap, in a restaurant located in the Korean Folk Village. Reflection: The Korean Folk Village provides us a precious chance to know more about the lifestyle of Koreans. This triggered off our interest on learning the history and culture of Korea and we have sympathy with further study in no time. Having on site visiting in different museums or theme parks is more desirable than having spoon-feeding education about history. Unfortunately, in Hong Kong, we have less opportunities to visit similar theme parks under the limiting of resources. We hoped that the government can reconstruct some of the country parks into theme parks aim to introducing the history and culture of Hong Kong to both citizens and tourists. This must be an elixir for students to learn more about Hong Kong.

Lotte World Spot Description: Lotte World was founded on July12,1989. It consists of 2 major parts which are the indoor theme park and outdoor amusement park called Magic island. Its indoor theme park is the largest one in the world which includes four floors like Adventure 1/F. Therefore, it attracts many citizens and tourists every day. Reflection: After visiting Lotte World, we found that it is a relaxing place for Koreans and the tourists. It is believed that people who went there before had a remarkable memory. We also had the same feelings after visiting there. Although it is a theme park which is the same style with Ocean Park and Disneyland in Hong Kong, we thought that it is very different to others. In Lotte World, there is a folk museum. We could learn some Korean cultural there and watched the traditional performances. For those who do not like exciting games, it is a good choice for them. However, the two theme parks in Hong Kong do not have such an interesting part. We hope that we can also let other tourists know more about history of Hong Kong while they are visiting the two theme parks. Tourists can easily know more about Hong Kong through the museum if there is a Museum of Hong Kong in Ocean Park and Disneyland. Therefore, we learnt that when we are playing, we should care more around the world and the things happening around us. A theme park can also let us know more about the culture of Korea.

Korean Demilitarized Zone(DMZ) Spot description: We visited DMZ on the last day of the Grand Tour. Korean Demilitarized Zone where is a history-rich border and used for the buffer zone between North and South Korea. For the sake of knowing more about the history between the North Korea and South Korea, we watched a video about the Korean war and DMZ. Then, we entered the 3 rd Tunnel which was built by the North Korea to have a surprise attack toward the South Korea. We also got a chance to view the living environment of North Korea on the Unification Hill. Finally, we visited Dorasan Station, the northernmost railway station. Reflection: After we visited to the DMZ, we found that it is worth visiting such an educational and valuable spot. We learned more history about the Korea and we are very astonished that South Korea could recover their economy or even run a booming economy in a short period. Since, the Korea War ended on 27 July 1953 and South Korea held together to overcome the hardship. We used to feel unpleasant for living in Hong Kong because of the busy and stressful lifestyle, but now we found that we are so lucky to be born in Hong Kong. It is because we do not need to worry about the attack from other countries and do not need to be separated with our family. There are plenty of South Koreans who have separated with their family since their family members escaped to North Korea during Korea war. We should treasure the time with our family since all the things do not come easily.

Kim Chi School Spot Description: In the 4th day in Seoul, we went to the Kimchi School. In the school, we learnt how to make Kimchi and some advantages of eating it too. For example, it is good for preventing constipation because of the large amount of lactobacillus contains in Kimchi. Also, Kimchi is also good for increasing appetite, that s why so many Koreans like to have one dish of Kimchi before having the main meal. Moreover, we are delighted to have an opportunity to make Kimchi by ourselves. The finished products will be sent to the Aged Home and distribute to the elderly. Therefore, it is a meaningful and unforgettable memory to us. What is more, we also drank Panax ginseng tea and ate some Korean seaweed, their tastes were really good! After we finished our Kimchi, we went to costume room. There are a lot of pretty Hanboks and all of us dressed them. The costumes are really gorgeous. Reflection: We felt beneficial after we went here. Not only did we learn how to make kimchi, but also knew more about Korean. Besides, we could feel that Korean were really particular country because everything in korean is

interesting and admiring.travelling overseas can broaden our horizens so it is very happy for us to have this experience.korean is beautiful country!

Conclusion Travelling to Seoul and experiencing the culture unveiled a staggering situation about the cultural differences between different countries. Without visiting, our understanding about Korea would be just restricted in the TV shows. Moreover, we are grateful to be born in Hong Kong on the ground that we have lower chance of being destroyed by natural disaster or being attacked from other countries, which pose a menace to Hong Kong stability. By communicating with the Koreans, our language skills were improved too. Instead of using our mother tongue Cantonese, Putonghua, English, Korean and even body language were used for the sake of tackling the problem of language barrier. The relationship between our group members, our class and our teachers were closer, as we stayed with each other in the trip. Thankfully, we have the chance to get involved in the grand tour as we enjoy and gain so much in the process, it was a valuable memory for us.
