We want to get the word out about our great agents so beginning October 27 through November 9 SAAHU will be running TV spots on KSAT 12 during Great Day SA, Queen Latifah and on Saturday and Sunday mornings. These spots will emphasize the importance of finding an agent for assistance in the marketplace and point consumers to the find-an-agent link on our web-site. Coming up for our November luncheon, Bill Mann will be presenting a 1 hour CE on ERISA and the Fully Insured Marketplace. Our luncheon will be on Wednesday November 19 th. We hope you will join us November 13 th for the UTSA vs. Southern Mississippi game. The proceeds from our ticket sales will benefit SAAHU and the many events we host for our members. Humana will be our sponsor and we will have a pre-game event to include food and fun for the whole family. Rowdy and the UTSA cheerleaders will be joining us and we will have great activities for kids. Register today and invite your friends and family. In December, Janet Trautwein will be joining us for our monthly luncheon (a week early), on December 10 th. This will be a member only event as Janet comes to share the latest from Washington D.C. with our members. We hope to see you at our luncheon and the UTSA game this month! We also want to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. We re on the Web! www.sanantonioahu.org Thank You, Carla Adams SAAHU President carlaa@uschx.com

Page 2 Media Moments After a rather quiet summer NAHU / TAHU / SAAHU has resurfaced in a variety of media spots lately. Our President Carla Adams was interviewed on Sunday, November 2, on KENS5. Anchor Barry Davis quizzed her on enrollment procedures for upcoming open enrollment for the Marketplace. KSAT 12 is running 30 SAAHU info spots between October 27 and November 9. The spots remind the public of upcoming open enrollment and where to go to find an agent. This is a SAAHU produced spot (with the help of KSAT production folks) and has air time during Good Morning San Antonio, Queen Latifah, and weekend sports. WOAI News 4 featured SAAHU Member Teresa Martinez in an October 28 special for Breast Cancer Month. Media Chair, Loretta Camp, was quoted in an October Benefits Selling Magazine article discussing the benefit challenges and responsibilities of the small business owner. October 15 Press Release entitled Agents Can Be Critical Resource for Consumers ; September 23 Press Release entitled : Affordable Care Acts Year Two Open Enrollment Period New Questions did not appear to be picked up by any local outlets. Past President SAAHU/TAHU Joanna Antongiovanni was published (with byline) in Texas CEO Magazine. Her article Don t Be Afraid of the Acronyms: Tips for Smaller Businesses in ACA Strategies is an excellent piece to share with any frustrated clients. Express News Peggy O Hare s summer article on Texas Rating Procedures featuring NAHU s Jessica Waltman and SAAHU Member Janna Hamstra, was also picked up by the Fort Worth Star Telegram. In addition to our SAAHU website, Facebook page, and Linked in page all meetings and events are posted on the KSAT12, KENS5, and Express News Community Calendars. So keep your ears and eyes open you just never know where we will turn up! If you see or hear any mention of SAAHU, please forward the information to saahumedia@gmail.com. Thank You, Loretta Camp SAAHU Media Chair

Page 3 SAAHU LEGISLATIVE UPDATE This is an important election as it pertains to our industry. According to HUPAC: Mid-term elections will decide which party will control the Senate for the next two years. With eight to 10 true toss-up Senate races election night will be a busy one across the country. The states to watch include: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Hampshire and North Carolina. Only three of the seats up for grabs are controlled by the GOP. Given current party breakdown in the Senate--53 Democrats, 45 Republicans and two Independents, the result of these elections could result in Republican control of the Senate if they capture a majority of those state races. It is expected that we will not know the final outcome of the elections until weeks after election. Expect a great deal of controversy surrounding the final results on November 4th. HUPAC has been busy, and disbursements for the fall (July-September) total $150,500. Here in Texas, we have a Lt. Governor race, a few new Senators to elect, and there are three vacancies to be filled in the House Insurance Committee. Stay tuned for next month s coverage of the state and national results and how they will affect our industry. Thank You, Michael Grossman SAAHU Legislative Chair
