April 8, 2013 - Item F.2 LUMBY CURLING CLUB REPORT JANUARY 2013 The Lumby Curling Club continues to have their regular leagues as follows: Monday & Wednesday night Mixed Curling Tuesday & Thursday Day Curling Friday night little Rockers Friday night Teen & Adult Saturday night 2 draws of Mixed We are particularly happy with the Friday night Junior Curling. We have approx 45 junior curlers. Half of the curlers are Elementary School age who curl in the first draw, and the others are teens who curl in a 2 nd draw on Friday along with their parents or other adults. The other league that we feel is important is the Saturday night league. We have 2 draws (14 team total) and most teams are comprised of new curlers. This is an adult only league however many of the curlers bring their families with them and the kids hang out while their parents curl. We have a discounted rate for this league in hopes of capturing their interest while introducing them to the game of curling. During the past year our club has sponsored: Senior Bonspiel Logger s Mixed Bonspiel 32 teams Anser Mixed Bonspiel - 32 teams Sr. Masters Zone Playdowns Junior Bonspiel Junior Inter- City Sunday Curling 1 per month Throughout the year we have scheduled activities with J.W Inglis and Charles Bloom School. We supply instruction and curling supplies for the J.W. Inglis Grade 5 classes who participate in the introduction to curling during their P.E. classes. The Grade 11 & 12 P.E. classes also have regular sessions of curling during the winter semester. Last year and again this year we scheduled instruction and curling supplies to approx 20 of the International Students that were in attendance at Charles Bloom.
