[1] One of the main factors that influenced the French Revolution was the social division on four or five different Estates. [2] The three Estates referred in the previous statement were three: the first Estate represent by the majority of the population (98%) called the peasants or commoners; then, the second Estate, the clergy of church; and the third Estate or last, the nobility. [3] The people who pushed the society on the Revolution with their ideas were the philosophers from the Renaissance. [4] The philosophers were preparing the ground for the change inspired by the sense that their country was moving extremely fast for the times, to much progress. [5] The philosophers were very active during the French Revolution, and they did not have a doubt to even raise on arms against the King.
[6] The philosophers influenced the French Revolution on the roots of professionalism; which meant championing progress, rationalism and individual rights. [7] The group who fought harder to change the Estate division was the peasantry. They were having more and more money, but they could not change their social status to another Estate. [8] Another key issue for the French Revolution was that the King used to convoke too often the Estates General; and the representatives were extremely tired of being asked all the time about all the decisions. [9] The change of the new taxation system was the detonation of the French Revolution. The King wanted only the Third Estates paying the taxes; he almost need no money, so he was good with that decision. [10] The Third Estate was in possession of most of the land and the money, but they paid no taxes at all.
