WORKING HARD AS SENATORS Senate meetings and party conventions filled our schedule with a lot of elections, discussions, and hard work. It is always great to watch the senators get more comfortable in the meetings. They are quickly taking risks, running for positions, and debating with each other about the issues. Nationalist Federalist Minority Party Floor Leader Hannah Hendrickson Minnesota Majority Party Floor Leader Abby Scholer North Carolina ALA Girls Nation floor leaders act as spokespersons for their parties in routine business, such as morning hour, legislative business, and recess or adjournments. They lead party consensus on the Senate floor along with the party whips. Minority Party Whip Emma Risley New Jersey Majority Party Whip Eliza McCarthy Pennsylvania The primary responsibility of the ALA Girls Nation Whip involves encouraging party fidelity in voting and keeping track of party sentiment on issues. Keynote Speaker Amelia Larson Rhode Island Keynote Speaker Gabriela Upson Massachusetts The ALA Girls Nation keynote speaker is enthusiastic, interesting and determined to get her party candidates elected. Barnett, who is in D.C. for TAL Boys Nation, addressed the senators and spoke about giving back and using ALA Girls Nation as an opportunity to further their dreams.
