Khalil Anthony & Erich DeSchepper nominated 2. Motion to move to a period of questioning 3. Motion to move to a period of closed discussion 4. Khalil Anthony appointed A) The Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate shall assist the Speaker in directing and managing the business of the Senate. B) The Speaker Pro-Tempore shall preside at meetings of the Senate when the Speaker is absent or when the Speaker chooses to cast a vote during a meeting that is not a tiebreaking vote. C) The Speaker Pro Tempore shall be charged to coordinate Senate events, to represent the Senate when needed, to be a voting member of each internal committee and to perform any other duties as assigned by these Bylaws or by action of the Student Senate. ii. Sergeant at Arms 1. Sarah Ramirez & Erich DeSchepper nominated 2. Motion to move to a period of questioning 3. Motion to move to a period of closed discussion
4. Erich DeSchepper appointed A) The Sergeant at Arms of the Senate shall be charged with assisting the speaker in maintaining order. They will direct those members who are deemed out of order to correct previous actions, raise points of order during the meeting when correct procedure is not being followed and in extreme circumstances request the Speaker remove the member from the body, to exclusively handle all voting ballots of the Senate, to represent the Senate when necessary and to perform any other duties as assigned by these Bylaws or by action of the Student Senate. B) The Sergeant at Arms shall also assist the Speaker in training fellow Senators in correct procedure. C) The Sergeant at Arms shall preside at meetings of the Senate when both the Speaker and Speaker Pro-Tempore are absent. iii. Secretary 1. Rachel Shafer nominated 2. Rachel Shafer appointed by unanimous consent A) The Secretary of the Senate shall be charged with keeping the records of SGA, to call attendance at each meeting, to assist the Speaker in counting votes and call names for all roll call votes, to keep and record accurate minutes of every meeting, to read the minutes when presented in Senate, to bring all appropriate records to meetings and to send all notices of meetings, agendas, legislation and correspondence to all members of SGA prior to each meeting within a reasonable time and to perform any other duties as assigned by these Bylaws or by action of the Student Government Association. B) To receive and keep track of minutes and/or reports sent by Executive Directors and committee secretaries each week.
C) No Senator may hold more than one Officer Position simultaneously. D) In the event that an officer is unable to serve or is removed, a successor shall be immediately elected. VII. Officer Reports a. Student Allocations Director, Raupe Travel Grant i. Focusing on making changes to Raupe, first application for Raupe funding has been submitted b. Student Allocations Director, Eagle s Nest i. Eagle s nest is for registered student organizations to assist with their programming on campus, application for funding closes
November 9 th, funds are allocated on a first-come first-serve basis, the committee has been formed and is funding the MGC showcase c. Outreach Director i. Working on filling the 45 committee spots, working with the governmental affairs director to deputize student leaders to register others to vote, advertising SGA resources to students d. Governmental Affairs Director i. Director unable to be present because of conflict with North Texas Dance, e. Intern Program Director i. Interviewing interns, many interns have expressed interest in working with senators so we are seeking 10 volunteers to work with interns directly, also seeking volunteers for a panel for interns f. Chief of Staff i. SGA breakfast on September 15 th, SGA retreat September 22 nd to 23 rd g. President i. Filling committee positions, attending meetings, RSVP to all SGA headshots on Facebook (day of 3 rd senate meeting), new seal for SGA h. Vice President i. Please check you emails, implementing a point system to keep track of membership, name tags and name plates are coming in soon, moving forward senators will be able to table during office hours and must fill out a solicitation form in order to do so, possible deputizing on September 21 IX.
